Lots and lots of paper work

Iris' P.O.V

Okay maybe I should have dropped this story like Barry said. This is a TON of papers to go through. It's okay Iris! It will be worth it because this story is super important! It will help grow your career and make a real difference. So lets grab some coffee, a snack, and get started!

I sat down with my coffee and granola bar in-hand, and just stared at my pile of papers. After a long debate of weather or not I should actually do the research for this story, I dove right in! Almost literally because I lunged straight for the pile of papers. I split up all of the papers into four piles and planned to take a break after reading/annotating the first two. I was convinced that it would be hours of going through boring police files but the very first file proved me wrong.

Enzo Petit is a runaway from France who specializes in illegal weapons. Enzo was arrested by detective Joe West, last month after he was exposed by one of his buyers. The evidence found in Enzo's lab only showed technology far beyond anything every created. Enzo claims to not know what his weapons do because he wasn't able to finish them before they were stolen. Okay so not completely boring, maybe this won't be so bad, I thought. I picked up the next file but this one was not interesting at all.

The second file talked all about science and some of the theory's of how Enzo's machines work. I could barely stay awake while I was reading it. I decided to highlight the main part about how the weapons were believed to work and moved on. The third file was about the Triple F. The Five Ferocious Fighters were born into a family of crime. They are all siblings and their mother's name is Martha Fredrick, and their fathers name is Thomas Fredrick. Martha and Thomas are both serving life sentences in prison for grand theft and murder. Blah blah blah blah blah, backstory nonsense, highlight here and maybe a underline that, okay now something important. The Five Ferocious Fighters are hostile and usually get what they want. Do not engage unless a full back up team is available. Hmm, they must be super bad if the police have to write a note reminding the police to be careful. I quickly read the last part of the file and put it in the done pile. I looked down and realized I still had three more piles to read and annotate. I know I said I was going to take a break after I had finished two piles... But I kind of want to take a break now. I wonder what Barry is doing right now. I pulled out my phone and went into my text messages that I had with Barry. 'Hey, do you want to come over for another lunch date?' send. Okay now I just have to wait.

It only took Barry a few minuted to answer his phone. 'Sorry I can't, I am need to go work out. :( does maybe Saturday work? Or Sunday? Maybe sometime next week?' A frown formed on my lips. That was not like Barry. In all of our year of dating and before that, Barry has never once said no to a date with me. And he is 'working out'? Unless it is some sort of Flash thing, I am ninety percent sure that Barry Allen does not just start working out randomly. What us he up to? No Iris just take a step back. You are probably just overthinking this. Barry loves you and no amount of 'working out' is going to change that. Even if he does want to wait all the way till next week to reschedule, he is probably just busy with work and Flash stuff. I sighed and picked up the next file. It was probably for the best that Barry was busy because I have no idea how I would be able to explain these piles if paperwork without Barry finding out I didn't actually drop the story.

The next two piles of paper were pretty boring. Either stuff about backstory or just repeats of what I had already read. Although the last file in the last stack was different. I picked up the pile of paper with droopy eyes. I started reading it and about halfway through I realized that it was just a bunch of addresses. Addresses? Why is there just a list of addresses? I was confused. I decided to look them up just to see what they were of. I pulled out my laptop and punched in the addresses in google maps.

The first three were of random places, like one was of a taco shop and another was of an ice cream stand. Though the forth one was of an abandoned warehouse. Oh, maybe these are the places that the cops suspect the Triple F are? I clicked on the link to the abandoned warehouse and then my whole computer screen went red. I was frozen, very much like my computer screen. It started making a weird beeping noise and then an icon appeared that said, to resume your activity please restart your device. I did as it said and held down the power button until it restarted. After my computer had fully restarted, I decided that I had done enough research for one day. I put my laptop away and put the now annotating papers back into my journalist bag.

I needed something to get my mind off of what just happened because it was scary. Where is Barry when you need him? I suppose I could push the panic button on my phone and the Flash would be here in a second but I think they would get mad because I wasn't in any 'real' danger. I popped my favorite movie into the DVD player and wrapped myself in a warm fuzzy blanket on my warm fuzzy couch.

SO. What did you think? Iris' computer malfunction? What was that about? I don't even know, JK I do know because I am the one writing this story but YOU don't know. Hope you are enjoying this story :)!!!!! I know this was a short chapter, I just didn't think it would be VERY entertaining to write out every paper she read. Do you want me to do more about her research?
