Barry's P.O.V

"Ahhh ahhh Ahh AhH AHH!" I stopped gasping for breath. My throat was sore and my chest muscles were exhausted. "So, how did I do?" I looked up at my instructor. "Umm... How do I put this? Vous sonnez comme une vache mourante!" A smile spread across my face as I straitened my back. "Wait really?" I didn't know what it meant but it sounded good. My instructor formed a week smile as he rested his head on his hand. "Barry do you know what that means in french?" My smile slowly faded, I could tell he was trying to make me feel better about my horrible singing. "No, is it bad?" His face was drained of all emotion when he said, "It means: You sound like a dying cow." I sat down on the bench and let out a sigh. Singing is hard! Almost harder then saving the city everyday. "Well, I'm better than I was last week right? That's a start!" He nodded and the week grin returned to his face. "Yes, last week you sounded like a dying elephant and now you have upgraded to dying cow!" I chuckled.

"How about we take a break and look at the words to your song; you said you wrote it yourself correct?" He asked as he walked over to the piano, where I had laid my lyrics. "Yeah, I have the words but I don't really know how to play an instrument. I mean technically I learned a little piano in fourth grade so I was able to get a rough rhythm laid out but it needs... help." I said as I leaned on the big black instrument. It gave me great anxiety as I watched him read through all of my papers with an emotionless face. "Well, you weren't kidding when you said you had a rough outline. But we can fix this!" He sat up straight and rested his finger tips on the keys every so slightly. "I was thinking of spicing it up to something like, this?" As soon as he finished he started playing the most beautiful tune. It was slow and easy, yet dramatic and quick. There were not enough words to describe how it sounded. Iris is gonna love it! I thought to myself.

"You are quite the dancer Mr. Allen." My instructor said with a smile. "I take it you like the tune?" I smiled sheepishly. I was so caught up in the music that I didn't even know I was dancing. "Uhh yeah I guess so. I mean about the dancing not the music! The music is great! It's perfect she's per- we- It's great!" I stuttered out. He had an amusing smile on his face. "Come, sit." I did as I was told and sat on the stool beside my instructor. "Barry, tell me about your girl." I just laughed a little, it was a weird question and one I did not want to talk about with a complete stranger. "What makes you say I have one?" He smiled. "Oh Barry, I am from France. You think I do not know love in a gentlemen's eyes when I see it?" I bobbed my head in defeat. "Okay. Her name is Iris and I have known her forever." He smiled bigger than I have ever seen him smile. "Ah like the flower. Very beautiful!" I smiled. "She's gorgeous! Her big brown eyes are like candy and her long black silky hair, her caramel colored skin, her smile that shines brighter than the sun." I was stuck in an allusion of her standing there in front of me. "She sound marvelous! But I was talking about the flower." He whispered that last part. I felt sheepish again. "Anyway Barry, i want you to focus on something. You are a man who wants to get things done like that! In a flash!" I nodded my head and listened. "Well singing is not something you can do in a flash. It's, it's like dancing! You need to feel the music and let it coarse through you. Also I want you to focus on everything you just told me about your Iris, and let that empower you to sing. Your vocal chords are muscles but singing is a feeling. A feeling that comes from the heart." As he finished he tapped his finger on my chest to where my heart is.

I was about to thank him for the amazing pep talk because that meant a lot to me! The minute I opened my mouth my phone buzzed in my pocket. "Sorry! Uhh- oh it's Iris!" 'Hey, do you want to come over for another lunch date?' I was torn, I didn't want to say no but I really need to get in as much singing practice as possible! Hmmmm, I'll just say sorry i'm working out, with a frowning face. Cause I am working out my singing voice. Wait frowning face or no frowning face? I'll go with the frowning face. When can I reschedule? Tomorrow? Friday? Maybe Saturday? No Sunday. After a long debate about what to send I finally said, 'Sorry I can't, I am need to go work out. :( does maybe Saturday work? Or Sunday? Maybe sometime next week?' After I hit send I noticed all of the grammatical and spelling errors I had made. It's okay she probably won't notice! I thought.

"Okay I'm ready to get back to work!" I said as I slid my phone back in my pocket. "Great! Because today, my goal is to get you from dying cow, to dying donkey!" My instructor said with a smile. "I don't know if that is supposed to help me feel better but okay!" I said with a small laugh. "Okay, so I was thinking we can do ten diaphragm breaths and then do a lip roll scale?" I hung my head. "Alright!" I said as I walked back over to the piano. "Come on Barry! Do it for Iris!" He cheered. I started breathing in and out through my diaphragm. Everything I do is for Iris. I thought.

Hey guyssssssssssssssssssssss!! So what did you think of Barry's singing lessons? Did you think it was funny? What did you think of his instructor? And why do you think he is trying to hide this from everyone? And Iris???? :D 7/6/17:)  "Until next communion!" HR
