The Big Question!

Iris' P.O.V.

     My heart feels like it is going to explode. My shoulder is in excruciating pain and now Barry is stuck and there is no way of getting him out. "This is unfair!" I cried, leaning my forehead against the wall between us. "I know. I know, but this has to happen." He soothed. I tear ran down his face. "I love you!" He managed to get out. He said it as if it were the last time he would be able to. "I love you!" I managed to slow down my crying so that he could hear me clearly. "I should have asked you this sooner," He started. I raised my head and was eager to hear what he had to say. He was blurry from my tears but I tried to focus on him as best as I could. "Iris wi" 

BOOM

He was gone

     "No Barry!"I fell to my knees in defeat. We had won the fight but we had lost Barry in the process. Yellow and orange fire consumed his figure. It circled in the orb and grew brighter. He can't be gone! He can't! He has to be alive! I told myself over and over in my head. "What were you going to ask me?" I hit the ground in sadness. I was heartbroken and enraged all at once. "Iris he's gone!" Oliver said as he started carrying me away from the raging fire where Barry used to stand. His voice was weak, even Oliver was started to tear up. "No, he can't-" I wanted to resist but I couldn't find the will. I was usually so strong when it came to feelings but right now I felt so helpless. I stood up out of Oliver's grip and was welcomed by Cisco's open arms. Cisco was crying himself, so was Felicity. I gave Cisco a hug and buried my head into his shoulder. It didn't help, not much any way. Felicity rested herself in Oliver's arms and cried silently. "Everyone loved Barry Allen, he was just like pudding. The world lost some good pudding today." Felicity said. It wasn't the sweetest thing ever but it was nice that she tried. I wiped my eyes and looked back at the fire. It was slowing now, almost out. Then the blue field dispersed and there was a blinding light. We all shielded our eyes so we weren't blinded.

     When the light had gone back to normal the only light left was the sun peaking up from behind the mountains. I looked at where the spot and expected something tragic. Part of his suit, nothing, the weapons. I was surprised at what I saw lying on the ground. "Barry?" I whispered. "Barry?" Oliver said. "Barry!" Cisco yelled. We all ran over to him. It felt like we kept running and running but we finally reached him. I got down on my knees and forgot about the pain and blood escaping my shoulder. I cupped his face in my hands. "Barry! Barry I'm right here!" I said, with tears of joy. His cowl had been torn off and his face was bruised. I swiped the hair behind my ear and rested my hand on his chest. It wasn't moving, he wasn't breathing. "Barry?" I asked with worry flooding my voice. I searched his face for any sign of life. "Barry!" I said a little louder, shaking him lightly. The tears started heating up in my eyes, taunting that they would fall again. I laid my head against his chest. "Iris he-" Cisco started but was interrupted by a quiet, horse gasp. My head shot up. Barry? His eyes fluttered open. "Iris?" He groggily whispered. "Barry!" Everyone shouted. "Hey, I'm right here! You're okay!" I soothed, grabbing his hand and squeezing it gently. "Ooh. What happened. I feel like crap." He said. Everyone laughed. "You won!" Oliver said, pulling Felicity into a hug. "Yeah and you scared us half to death dude! You can't do things like that!" Cisco scolded with a laugh hidden in his voice. I chuckled softly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you guys." Barry said softly. "Alright, this deserves some victory coffee! I'll be right back, this is Jitters after all!" Felicity announced as she hurried off. I smiled and looked deep into Barry's brown eyes. In all that had happened I didn't think I would ever see them again. "Don't cry." Barry soothed, his eyes were tinted with love and worry. I hadn't noticed that a tear had escaped my eyes. Barry reached his hand up and wiped it away. I smiled. "Here, let me help you up." I told him. I grabbed his hand and pulled him upright. He immediately pulled me into a hug. I held onto him tightly, never wanting to let go. "I'm here now. I'm safe." He said as if he was reading my mind. I hugged him tighter and he kissed my forehead.

     We probably were hugging for at least five minutes but it only felt like a few seconds before Barry spoke up. "Can't say, how the days will unfold." I looked up at him in confusion. Is he singing? Barry never sings. I thought. "Can't change what the future may hold." He continued, still singing. "Barry what are you-" I started to say before he cut me off. "But, I want you in it. Every hour, every minute." He had a smile on his face. He pulled out of the hug and held my hands in his. "This world can race by far too fast." He started slowly twirling me around. Hard to see while it's all flying past." Finishing the twirl in a hug from behind. "But, it's clear now, when you're standing here now." He un-twirled me and extended one hand to me. "I am meant to be wherever you are, next to me." I took his hand and we started slow dancing around the rooftop. "All I want to do. Is come running home to you, come running home to youuu. And all my life I promise tooo, keep runnning home to you. Keep runnning hoooooome, to you." He leaned me into a dip and slowly brought me back up as he started singing the next verse. "And I could see it. Right from the start, right from the staart. That you would be, be my light in the dark. Light in the dark oh." We started picking up speed and he sang higher. "You gave me, no other choic. But to love youu." He slowly lowered his voice back down to where it started. "All I want to do. Is come running home to you, come running home to youuu." He stopped dancing and turned to Oliver. "And all my life I promise too. Keep running home to you." As Barry sang Oliver handed him a small white box. "Running hoome. Home to you." Barry got down on one knee and opened the box. "Can't say how the days will unfold. Can't change, what the future may hold. But I want you in it! Every hour. Every. Minute." He opened the box and inside was a diamond ring. I stepped back and covered my mouth with my hand to hide the big 'O' my lips were forming. "Iris West, will you marry me?" He said. I nodded my head up and down. All the pieces were falling into place. "Yes! Yes a thousand times yes!" We both smiled and he slipped the ring on my finger. He stood up and gave me a kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he cupped my face with hand and rested the other on my back. "Hey guys I'm ba- oh come on! You go down for a few cups of coffee and you miss everything!" Felicity said as she dropped the coffee on the floor in shock. We broke away from each other and Barry squeezed me into a tight side hug. (accidentally squeezing my shoulder wound causing pain to shoot through my arm.) "Babe I love you! And you-this is amazing but can we please get my shoulder fixed up before I pass out." I said as sweetly as I could. His eyes shot open wide as if just remembering my stab wound. "Right of course! I will run you back to Caitlin and then come back to take care of these crooks." He scooped my up into his arms bridle style and paused so everyone could say goodbye. "Congrats!" Felicity said as she hugged Oliver tightly. "Don't mess this up!" Oliver said. "Finally! I've been waiting for this to happen for like years!" Cisco said playfully. We both smiled and then Barry sped us to Star Labs.

Heyy!! So yeah I am sorry if I caused you any trauma in the last chapter but everything is okay! Happy end of fight!
