"Your total is 36.05." I said to the girl who looked around fifteen. She smiled at me and handed me the exact amount and grabbed her bags; I grabbed her receipt and told her to have a great day.

Thirty more minutes till my shift was over.

"Hello." I said answering my ringing phone watching out for my manager.

"Hola baby." Nana said.

"Nana I'm at work, you know I can't talk."

"I know, voy a salir."

"With who? Abuela, it's late you should stay in."

"I'm going with Maria down the street." She said going back into her native language.

"I don't know her. Nana it's almost o-"

"Azalea, I'm going out. I'll be fine, only for 2 hours. Do you understand?"

"Yes Nana."

"Te amo."

"Love you too." I said ending my phone call.

I rolled my eyes out of frustration and turned to the new customer at my register only to be greeted by a familiar smile.

Are you kidding me?

"Chresanto... why the hell-"

"I'm shopping, looks like I'll be here more often too. Damn, good thing my mom sent me out to get this crap."

"Please don't. All together $43.47." I said bagging his things.

"Keep the change." He said handing me a 50 dollar bill, I opened my register and placed it inside.

"Have a good day sir." I said sarcastically closing my register.

"Aren't you gonna help me with my bags?"

"No, I have a register to watch, and we don't do carry outs."

He reaches over and flips the switch to cut off the light to my register, signaling that my lane was closed.

"Now you don't let's go."

"No."

"I can always carry you out of here, make a scene, and not care at all."

"Oh my God, you really get on my nerves. Out of all the Walmarts in Houston you come here." I growl walking out.

"God told me to." He chuckled leading the way to his car.

He popped the trunk and started putting the bags in. "What time do you get off?"

"Now, in like 20 more minutes." I said helping him.

"And your ride is?"

"Is that any of your business?" I said rolling my eyes.

He closed his trunk and leaned his figure onto it. "Why are you always so sassy to me? Hang with me for a few hours, we could grab a bite to eat and chill at my place."

"I'm not going to your house."

"Then we'll go to yours."

"No we're not."

"Compromise with me baby." He chuckled, showing off the pearly whites in his mouth.

"Goodnight Chresanto." I sighed turning on my heels and walking back into the store.

-
"It wouldn't hurt to smile baby." Chresanto said as he stayed focused on the road.

How'd I end up here?
