"A dónde vas?" Nana said waking up from her asleep."I'll be back Nana. Go back to sleep." I grabbed her car keys, and walked out the door.
I got in the car, and proceeded to drive to my destination, shaking my sleepiness off. It's two a.m and while I should be catching some z's, I knew I had business that couldn't be put off.
-
It wasn't too long before I reached the house that was my destination. I parked my car on the side of the street and got out, making sure to hit the lock switch. Seeing familiar and unfamiliar faces shoot my way as I walked up the steps.
"Look who came back to the trap house." A guy named Goony said to me.
"Wassup Goony?" I said giving him a hug as he stood up.
Goony was one of my favorite people, he was just another brother trying to make it too. From my understanding, he has two little girls and a boy. He made sure they came first before anyone else. He even looked out for me a couple of times, and my loyalty is everlasting to him because of that.
"Nothing much, chilling. What's up with you Red?" He says returning the love.
"Just had to handle some business. Where's Oscar?" I asked.
"In there."
"Thanks." After releasing Goony from the brief embrace, I walked into the house. As usual it was filled with your usual passed out crack heads trying to get something to fulfill that high, dealers counting money, and drugs.
"Yo where's Oscar?" I yelled over the music.
"Red? That's you fam'? You joining the crew again?" A boy named Jesse said to me.
"Nah.. I'm out and it'll stay that way." I say. "Where's, O?
"He's in the back."
I walk through the double doors, leading to the kitchen. Catching a glimpse of dealers who were hard at work on the stove making crack cocaine. I shook my head, and walked to the back of the house, spotting Oscar on the couch bagging the white substance.
"Well, well, little miss Red came back to the hood." Oscar laughed.
"Miss me with the bullshit, you know I'm still in the hood just as much as you." I shot back.
"Damn chill, I'm just fucking with you."
"I'm not here for jokes, O." I say pulling out the wad of money, secured with a rubber band, and tossing it on the table. "Next time come to me correct, don't chase me all over a mall."
"Next time... have my money when I come to you. It wouldn't have been a chase if you hadn't run."
I could've slapped him right there, slapped the shit of him. Imprint my nike sign on the bottom of my shoe, right on his face.
"Okay, only seventeen hundred more to go... I'll be expecting that soon." He said smiling. I watched as he leaned back on the couch, fixating his eyes on me. "How's Nana?"
"Keep her name out your mouth."
"Ouch, touchy touchy. Loosen up a bit. Tell her I said hello." He said smoothly.
She'll never get that message.
"We miss you Red, you should come back and I'll put your little debt behind us."
"I'd rather not, keep your offer. You'll get all of your money soon, and when you do don't look my way ever in your life."
"We'll see." He yelled behind me.
Yea, we will.
"You out Red?" Goony said as came out of the door like a bat out of hell.
"Yep." I said walking to my car.
"Alright nice seeing you again. Be safe, Red."
"You too, Goony." I smiled, before getting in my car and taking off down the street.
These were the people I chose to surround myself with, people like Oscar. Now that I'm out, my blood boils whenever I'm in his presence and his followers all because of one night.
Can't take another trip down memory lane.
