Hannie - falling for my bestfriend

Chapter 7

-2014- Hayden and Annie are both 10
Hayden's pov:

"Annie! I didn't know you were coming now?" I was confused for why Annie had arrived so early. She was meant to be coming at 4:00pm but she got here an hour early. Not that that's a bad thing.. it's a really good thing actually.

"Eh, I got bored so I came over earlier.. plus I do live up the road from you." She chuckled.
"Riight."
I opened the door a bit more so she could come in.
"So, what do you wanna do?" She asked sitting her self down on the lounge.
"Uh, I don't know? We could go for a walk.. watch a movie, go for a swim? I don't know." I came up with a variety of ideas hoping she'd at least choose one.
"Hmm, let's go for a walk. Could use some fresh air." She said smiling.
"Ok, well, dad and mum won't be home until like really late tonight.. and my brothers don't really care how long we stay out for.."
"Ok, cool! Let's go."
Always loved how enthusiastic she was.

"Wanna go to the beach? It's only like, 5 minutes away.." Annie suggested.
"Sure, I'm up for anything." I reply.
"Can you believe we are in year 5 next year?!" Annie said raising her eyebrows, which made me laugh.
"I know crazy right? And we've got that stupid year 5 dance next year." I rolled my eyes trying to hide the fact that I'm actually excited for it.. because I know how much Annie hated the thought.
"I KNOW OH MY GOD! I can't even deal." Annie laughed and how dramatic she was.
"And like, we have to dress up fancy and everything! And you have to wear a dressss!"
I teased her.
"Shut up!" She playfully pushed me.

We arrived to at the beach and the sunset was amazing.
"Woah, the sunset is beautiful!" Annie looked up at me and smiled.
"Yeah... it is." I replied.
I was gonna say some cheesy thing like, "not as beautiful as you" but then I thought, oh god no.
Annie climbed up onto the fence and sat on top of it.
"Come on, come up here."
She motioned me to come up and I did.
"Ok, seriously, this sunset is sooooo pretty!" Annie said once again.
"Yeah but not as pretty as- never mind." I was about to say it. I didn't mean to it just started to poor out of my mouth.. like word vomit.
"What were you going to say...?"
Oh no.
"Nothing.." I was so embarrassed.
"Hayden, I know you're lying. Plus I already knew what you were going to say." She shrugged her shoulders and laughed.
How did she know?
"Ok then, what was I gonna say?" I said seeing if she actually knew.
"I don't know."
"Hah! So you don't know!" I said relieved.
"No.. BUT CAN YOU TELL ME PLEASE?!"
she begged.
"Nope, id rather not.." I said blushing.
"Fine.. but if one day I don't tell you something and you wanna know.. I'm not telling you." She gave me a death stare.
"Ok." I shrugged my shoulders and laughed.

We sat there for another 5 minutes joking around until we heard a car drive by.

"Oh hey, Dylan." It was my brother.
"Thought you guys would be here." He smiled.
"How?" Annie asked.
"Well it is your favourite place, Annie. I knew you'd wanna come here." He laughed.
"Right.. you know me too well!"

"Ok.. but seriously, you guys need to get back home because it turns out mum and dad aren't working late tonight. I don't think they'd wanna know that you two were out wandering around." Dylan said motioning us to the car.
"Oh god! Ok, come on, Annie."
We jumped off the fence on got into Dylan's car.
"Seat belts on?" He asked us.
Annie and I both replied with yes then we drove off.

"That was a really fun night." Annie said hopping onto the mattress that we set up for Annie on the ground.
"Yeah it was." I said smiling and looking up to the ceiling.
"The athletics carnival is on soon.. reckon we will be able to break the records again?" I heard Annie say.
"Probably.. because you know we are the two fastest people in the grade." I said laughing.
"I can't believe you are faster than all the boys."
"I know right? But I'm not faster than you."
"No ones faster than me, Annie." I joked.
"Oh, I know. I have to hear you BRAG about it 24/7 sweetie."
"Hey! I don't brag about it all the time." I looked down at Annie from my bed.
"Yeah ya do.. weirdo." I could see that Annie closed her eyes. I better let her sleep.
"Yeah, yeah ok. Night, Leblanc." I said closing my eyes also.
"Goodnight." I heard her quietly reply.

I didn't go to sleep for another 20 minutes at least.
You know when you have those nights when all the sudden you start thinking about heaps of random crap and it keeps you up.. yep, that's happening to me and I'm not liking it.

I was mostly thinking about Annie which was making me feel like a creep. But I kept on thinking about all the memories we made together and it made me really happy.
But I doubt Annie ever thinks about that stuff too, would she?
