Chapter 14

-2015- Hayden and Annie are both 11

I was waiting outside of Annie's house so we could walk to school with each other.
This girl was taking forever.

She walked out of her front door and said her goodbyes to her parents.
She looked so pretty.
I felt like I watched her walk down the steps in slow motion.

"Umm.. like what you see?" She said laughing.
"Oh, um. Sorry."
God was I embarrassed.
"Uh.. that's ok." She said making a weird face.
There was a moment of silence.
"Almost the end of school." -
I tried to ease our way out of the awkward moment we both just experienced.
"Yeah, I know. I'm so excited for year 6.. are you?" She said looking up at me.
"Yeah, I guess. We turn the big 1 2 next year." I said nudging her.
"Can you believe we will be teenagers in less than two years!"
I laughed at how blown away Annie was.
"Yeah. A lot happens in the teenage years.." I said with a nervous look.
"Mhm.." -

We continued to walk to school then got to the front gate.
"Ladies first.." -
"Why thank you." Annie did a courtesy then walked the gate.
I shook my head and laughed.
We were walking to our class room but we were distracted by the music coming from the hall.

"Wonder what's happening in there." Annie said pointing at the school hall.
"Let's go check it out." I started walked down the concrete path that led to the hall. Annie and I peeked our head into the hall.
"Woah. It looks so cool!" Annie whispered/ yelled.
"I think it's the year 6 dance." -
"No it wouldn't be. The year 6's this year would've had their dance last year.. the whole year 5 dance thing only changed this year." Annie said confused.
"I swear you just said "year" like 1000 times." I said laughing.
"Shut up!" She lightly smacked me on the head.
"Anyways, No. I was talking to Brent Myers.. he's in year 6 this year and they had to have their school dance again." I said correcting Annie.
"Oh, ok. That must suck for them. They had to go to the dance twice!" Annie said shocked.

We turned away and walked back to our classroom.

"Wonder who everyone is taking." Annie randomly blurted out.
"What?" I said confused.
"I wonder who everyone is taking to the dance.. for the year 6's.."
I finally caught on.
"Oh, right.. why would you care anyways. You don't really know any of them.."
I said sitting down at my desk.
"I don't.. just wondering." She shrugged her shoulders then sat down beside me.
"Annie.." -
"Yeah..?" She said grabbing her pencil case.
"You know how u said that I was thinking about taking Sarah to the dance.." -
Ok, here we go.
Annie shot me a look.
"Yeah?" She looked me in the eyes. Woah, that caught her attention.
"Well, uh, I was lying about that.. I don't wanna take her." I let out a small laugh.
"Really? Why would you make that up?" She said frowning.
"I don't even know. It was stupid though. But what I'm trying to say is.." I stopped and took a deep breath.
"Go on.." Annie moved her hands around in a circle, motioning me to continue.
"Well, um. I want to take you.." I looked down to the ground and then started smiling.
"Really?" Annie said with a huge smile.
"Yeah. Well I figured since we've been best friends ever since we were born.. it'd be good if we went with each other.
"Yeah. You were the person I wanted to go with as well." She said nodding her head smiling.
"I guess it's a plan!" A said putting my thumbs up like a dork.

I really hope nothing ruins Annie and i's plans for going to the dance with each other next year. Like, I can't even explain how bad I want to dance with Annie and this dance.
Our teachers teach all the kids this dance and we have to do that dance on the night with our partner.
Annie and I always used to joke around waltzing when we were younger.. and no need to brag or anything but, Annie and I were pretty damn good at it. I just want it to be perfect on that night. I want it to be like one of those moments on romantic movies. When it seems like the whole crowd is just focusing on them when they're dancing. Perfect, right?

When ever I start thinking about Annie more and more.. it just shows me how fall in love more and more everyday.

I am head over heels for this girl.
