Hannie - falling for my bestfriend

Chapter 13

-2015- Annie and Hayden are both 11
Annie's pov:

The greatest thing happened to me today. Like, I am beyond excited it's not even funny.
The year 5 dance has been re-scheduled for next year because they think we are a bit too young for it to be held this year.
So I guess everyone can call it the year 6 dance for now on.
But i was really, and I mean really NOT excited for the year 5 dance this year and today I've been told I have to wait another year for it!

Hayden and I have been talking about how the dance has been moved to next year.
"I'm so happy!" I said looking up at him. He smiled at me.
"I knew you would be. You really hate the thought of dances don't you?" He said playfully nudging me.
"Yep. I really hate it!" I start laughing and he does too.
"Yeah. I found it kinda stupid that the dance was gonna be held in year 5 instead of year 6. Because like, we are only 11 years old.. 12 is a much more suitable age." Hayden said sitting down at our table in class.
"Jeez. You sounded really smart then." I said raising my eyebrows.
"You saying I'm not smart, huh?" -
"No. I meant like-"
"I'm only joking." He shook his head and laughed.
I rolled my eyes and smiled.

Today was extremely boring and tiring. My teacher made us do really horrible, deadly subjects today, (as known as, math and English.) 
I'm actually quite good at English. I mean, I get top marks in the class.. but that doesn't mean I like it.

Hayden was the one who was crazy smart at math. I usually copied off him because you know, I suck at it.
He probably knew all his times tables when he was born to be honest.

"That day was terrible!" I said letting out a huge groan.
"Yeah. I can't believe mr Michael made us do all of that work!" Hayden replied.
"The only highlight of today was finding out that the dance is gonna be next year." I said laughing.
"You're still going on about that." -
"Of course I am! It's the best thing that's happened all year." I said exaggerating.
"You're a funny one."

We continued to walk home, talking about random stuff.. then Hayden changed the subject.

"So.. who are you gonna go with to the year 6 dance?" Hayden said looking down at his feet.
Did he really just ask that. Isn't obvious that I'm gonna take him?
I was going to straight up tell him that I was gonna ask him to go with me. But I thought, nah, let's just play it cool.
"Mm. Not sure.. have you got someone in mind?" I said looking up at him.
"No not really. I was kinda thinking about asking Sarah, maybe. But we've got a whole year until the dance is actually on." He let out a small laugh.
Did he really just say.. Sarah?

My heart literally broke into pieces when i heard him say Sarah. I mean, I'm not meaning to sound annoying or anything but.. wasn't he going to take me?

"Sarah?" I said trying my hardest to keep all my crazy emotions inside of me.
"Yeah." He looked me in they eyes emotionless. "Well.. Do you have someone in mind?" He said continuing the conversation.
"Yeah.. I do." I said nodding my head lightly, keeping my eyes on the ground.
"Who?!" He said busting to know who it was.
"Jeez, Hayden. I thought you would've already knew." I said looking up at him.
"Well, I don't?" He said with a concerned look.
"Well, you'll just have to figure it out then won't ya?" -
We got to our street and I started to walk to my house. I didn't say goodbye because I wanted to leave the conversation like that. It still hurt that he said Sarah and not me. When did he even talk to Sarah? He was always hanging around me. Was he lying?

(Authors note: I'm gonna sometimes put both of their povs in the chapters starting from now😂)

Hayden's pov:

Yep. I lied to Annie. I don't even know why I said Sarah. I guess I wanted to see if she got jealous? Oh my god. That's horrible, Hayden.. what the hell is wrong with you?

When I asked Annie who she had in mind she said that she did have someone.. and then she told me that I should've known who it was.
I was hoping she was going to say it was me she had in mind because then I would've told her that I was lying about the whole Sarah thing. But, she didn't.

I want to go to the dance with Annie so badly. I think I'm going to tell her soon that I was lying about Sarah and that i want to go with Annie.
But there is still a whole year until the dance.. anything could happen in a year.

I walked up to Dylan's room.. because I need to ask him a question. I barged through the door and immediately started talking.
"Dylan I have a question." I said sitting down next to him on his bed.
"Yeah? What is it?" He said looking down at me.
"Um.. do you think Annie likes me?" -
"Oooo. You like her don't you." He said nudging me.
"Shut up! Now answer my question." -
"Isn't it obvious, bro?" He said shaking his head and smiling.
"What? What's obvious?" I said confused.
"Hayden, she does like you ok? I see the way she smiles at you and stuff. It's soooo cute." He says putting on a girl voice.
"You really think she likes me?" I said feeling my cheeks burn up.
"Yes! You can even ask jimmy and hunter. Now leave I need to get this essay done." He said pushing me out of his room.
"Thanks, Dylan!" I walked out of the room smiling. Does Annie actually like me?
