Chapter 18

"We have eyes all over the city looking out for Jay. We also have eyes on his family in Chicago, so if he tries to go back there, we'll get him. I want him brought back to me ALIVE! You can get a few punches in here and there, but I want him. Also, I want eyes on Ella Rossi. I have a hunch that she is somehow involved in this."

"Yes,sir."

"Alright, go to your posts."

Joshua dismissed his men. They had been discussing Jay and possible solutions to find him.

"Dezmond, can you bring Luca to me?"

"Yeah, boss." Dezmond disappeared only to pop back up a minute later with Luca in his arms.

"Hey, Papa! Dezzy said he's going to buy me a Wolverine ac-ac. Dezzy, how you say it?" Luca asked in confusion.

"Action figure, buddy."

"Yeah that!!" Luca said in excitement as he leaned over for his father to take him.

"That's cool bud. Thanks, Dez."

"No problem. See you soon buddy." Dezmond waved bye to Luca before leaving the room, closing the door behind him.

"Okay, Luca. Papa had a question."

"What is it?"

"Do you know who put you behind the garbage can?"

"No papa. It was a man who said that Mara was hurt and he was going to take me to her. I couldn't see you after we started walking. He took me behind the can and said don't leave because the person that hurt Mara was going to hurt me too. I was scared Papa."

"What did the man look like bub?"

"He was tall. He had curly hair and skin that was darker than ours but lighter than Mara's. His eyes were brown. That's all I remember."

"That's okay. I'm glad you're okay. You just have to know not to talk to strangers, bub. If a stranger tries to talk to you, you ignore them and find me or Mara or anybody that you know, okay?"

"Okay Papa. Love you."

Kissing Luca's head, Joshua replied, "Love you too."

Amara, Makayla, James and Dezmond arrived at the hospital. Amara's heart pounding at the thought of getting a disease from Jay or even getting pregnant with his child, even though she took the Plan-B. She called Josh like she said, letting him know she arrived safely.

The doctor called her in. She took Makayla with her, while Dezmond and James stood guard at the door.

"Good Afternoon Ms.Carter, how can I help you?"

"Um, yesterday I was, um, raped. And I want to do some tests and exams to make sure everything is okay."

"Have you reported the rape to the local authorities?"

"No."

"May I ask why not?"

"I honestly haven't gotten to it. The guy who did this to me led me to believe he had kidnapped my son. I was more worried about him than myself."

"Well I would encourage you to report it as soon as possible. Now what types of tests would you like? STD/STI testing? It's too early for a pregnancy test, but we can give you something to prevent pregnancy."

"I took a Plan-B. Would that be enough to stop a pregnancy from occurring?"

"It should be fine. Now, we can draw some blood for the test."

After getting her blood drawn, the doctor let Amara know what she should be receiving the results from her test within a week.

Amara knew that until she got the results, she wouldn't be able to rest mentally. The thought of her having an STD or an STI because of Jay made her sick to her stomach.

"It would've been good for you to come to us yesterday so we could've done a rape kit. I assume you've taken a shower since the rape happened so all the fluids are gone. The bruises on your face are evidence, also. I really suggest you go to the police so they can take pictures of that."

"Okay. Thank you Dr.Sloan. I appreciate it."

"Are you going to the police station?" Makayla asked as they left the hospital. She knew this was hard for Amara so she was gonna be there every step of the way.

"Yeah, a little extra help never hurt anyone."

The trip to the police station was short, since it was close to the hospital.

Amara walked into the station with Makayla, and up to the front desk.

"Hello, how may I help you?"

"I would like to report a, um, rape." Amara said, her voice lowering when she said 'rape.'

"Okay ma'am. Why don't you step into this room while I get an officer to come talk to you." The receptionist directed Amara and Makayla to an empty interrogation room.

They were there for about 2 to 3 minutes before an officer came in.

"Hello, madams. My name is Officer Jenkins and I'll be investigating your allegations of a rape."
