"We're going to the park! We're going to the park!" Luca sang as he sat in his seat.
He was swinging his legs back and forth in excitement. If there was one thing he enjoyed, it was going to the park.
"You're really excited bub." Amara commented.
"Yeah. I love going to the park with you and Papa. Now we have Kayla and Uncle Jax so I get to have way more fun." Luca squealed.
Amara awed. Luca was easily the cutest kid she had ever met, and she felt honored to be able to spend time with him on a daily basis.
They pulled into the park's parking lot. Luca had already unbuckle himself and was about to hop out the car, but Amara stopped him before he could. She didn't want him running off by himself given the current situation.
"Do you have the park blankets in the trunk?" Amara asked Joshua.
They had a couple blankets that they kept in the trunk for whenever they wanted to go to the park.
"Yeah. I got some water back there too. Just in case." Joshua said, grabbing what they needed.
"Come on!! Hurry!!" Luca said, jumping up and down.
"Okay. Come on. I'll take you while papa gets the blankets."
Luca grabbed Amara's hand, pulling her towards the park that was relatively crowded.
Once they got close enough to the park, Luca let go of Amara's hand, running to the stairs so he could get to the slide.
Amara sat down on the bench, making sure to keep a close eye on him.
Joshua laid the blankets out, placing the cooler down on top of it so it didn't fly away. Amara got up and went to sit next to him.
Jaxon and Makayla were sitting a few feet away from them on another blanket. Whatever Jaxon was telling Makayla had her crying laughing. Amara was happy for her friend. It was time she found someone who was able to deal with her and her attitude, and it seem like Jaxon was that person.
Joshua wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. He kissed her neck before placing his chin on her shoulder.
"How was your day?" She asked, lacing her fingers through his.
"It was alright. Police stopped by today."
"Why?! Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything's fine. Just a check. There was some stuff going on in the neighborhood. He just wanted to look in on everyone."
"Did he know what kind of stuff was going on?"
"No."
"You should've asked. What if it was Jay?"
"Babe, not everything that happens is him."
"I know. I just don't want anything to happen to you guys. I'd go crazy."
"Nothing's going to happen. Everything's going to be okay."
"I hope so."
Just as she said that, Jaxon hopped up, yelling Luca's name.
Amara and Joshua scanned the park. There was no sign of Luca.
"LUCA! BUB! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Amara yelled, she was running around the park frantically
"FIGLIO! DOVE SEI?!" Joshua yelled, his heart beating frantically. (Son, where are you?)
Amara ran down the block a little, tears running down her face.
"BUB?! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
People were looking at her, but no one was doing anything.
"Someone call 911. My son is missing!" She yelled at the people. People whipped out their phones.
She ran back to the park. Joshua was standing in the middle of the park, running his hands through his hair. Jaxon and Makayla were still looking, checking the areas around the park.
"I can't find him!"
Joshua placed his hands his eyes, tears streaming down his face.
His worst nightmare had come true.
