Makayla was making dinner when she was interrupted by a knock on her door.

She had been home for a couple days, leaving Amara and Joshua their privacy.

She hadn't heard anything from anyone, which was causing her to worry. Her mind was still on alert for everything.

Grabbing a knife, she walked to the door. Makayla looked through the peephole, seeing a face that surprised her.

She cracked the door, "What are you doing here? How'd you get my address? Is everyone okay?" She asked, still not letting the person in.

"I came to talk. Everyone is fine. Can I come in?"

Makayla thought for a second before stepping back, allowing the door to fully open.

Jaxon stepped inside, looking Makayla over as he did. She smirked at her appearance. She was wearing an oversized shirt with some volleyball shorts underneath, which he couldn't see making him think she didn't have any bottoms on.

He could see that Makayla was looking him over also. He was wearing a white shirt, some jeans that made his ass look amazing and some Nike sneakers.

"You wanted to talk?" She said, snapping out of her thoughts. They walked into the kitchen, Makayla continued to cook.

"Yeah, we found Jay." He let her know, sitting at the island.

"Really?!! Where is he?" Makayla exclaimed, almost dropping the knife she forgot she was holding.

Jaxon walked around the island, grabbing the knife, "He's dead."

"Woah, Woah, What?! Dead? How? Since when? Does Amara know!" She rambled.

"Yes she knows. About 2 days. And Josh killed him." He said casually, sitting the knife on the counter.

"JOSH, WHAT?! How? Oh my goodness. What the fuck?" Makayla ran her fingers through her hair, slightly pulling it.

"Joshua is a very powerful man. He's very protective over his family. Jay definitely deserved what he got. But in the end, we all have one less problem to deal with."

"I guess you're right. I just could never imagine Joshua killing someone. At least I know he'll go to any limits to protect Amara and Luca."

"You too. You might not be his son or girlfriend, but we'll protect you too. Not that I would let anyone get close enough to cause you harm, but you don't have anything to worry about." Jaxon said, his eyes locked with Makayla's.

Makayla blushed, looking away, "You mean that?"

Jaxon wrapped one of his arms around Makayla's waist, pulling her into him," Of course I do."

Makayla let her forehead fall onto his chest, her hands holding onto his biceps. They stayed in that position, enjoying each other's warmth and company.

After about a minute or two, Makayla pulled away remembering that she was preparing dinner.

"Do you, maybe, want to stay for dinner?" She asked Jaxon, who smiled in return.
