What is satisfaction? Is it when everything that we have always wanted actually happens? It is a feeling equivalent to quenching thirst. But it is also a person to person dependent thing. For some satisfaction is seeing their children succeed, for some it is as simple as buying their own house and so on. Simple, isn't it? Then why is the constant greed for satisfaction never fulfilled. I feel the roots of this greed lie in our mentality.
From childhood we see our parents working hard, just for lively basics. We grow up thinking that we work to earn, we study to get work and hence we study to earn. This is so mainstream that no one ever feels anything weird about this. But with such mindset we grow up, earn our living, and SPEND our life. We don't feel satisfied as my friend we never actually LIVE and ENJOY our life. If from childhood we let children decide what gives them joy and let them do that, then they will gradually enjoy the way of earning. And so no more will hard work imply the tedious and boring working hours.
If you really enjoy the work you do, I'm damn sure that at the end of the day you will sleep with 'satisfaction of working'. What always holds people from doing their best is actually the very feeling of not enjoying that thing. They are meant for something different. This is one of the reasons why people face failure in the work they do. This in turn makes them lose their self confidence. It this world of judging a fish by its ability to climb a tree, we actually make the fish even doubt its ability to swim!
Life is so small that you hardly have any time to waste. So just stop spending your life and start living it.
Cheers!
