Caught In The Storm

7 years earlier...

Betty knocked on Jughead's door, dreading telling him the news.
No answer.
She knocked a second time and there was still no answer. Although she was prepared, she was slightly relieved that she wouldn't have to tell him.
She turned and started to walk away, then she heard a creak behind her.
"Hey there Juliet" said Jughead.
She turned around and her stomach filled with butterflies the second she saw him. How could she possibly do this?
"Hey" Betty responded with a forced smile.
"So are you gonna come in or just stand there looking at me" Jughead said.
They walked inside and Betty was terrified as to what his reaction would be. Jughead sat down on the couch and made a gesture that suggested he wanted Betty to come sit with him.
"We really need to-" Betty started but was cut off with a kiss from Jughead.
"What was that for?" she asked.
"I just love you" he responded.
How could she tell him after that? She smiled, and they started kissing again. He started taking her shirt off, but she stopped him. She couldn't do this.
"There's really something I need to tell you" Betty started.
"Oh, um, sure, go ahead" Jughead responded.
"After graduation, I'm moving away. To California" she blurted out.
"Betty...graduation is in three days" he responded.
"I know and I've been trying so hard to work up the courage to tell you. I don't want to leave you Jug, I love you" she said.
"Then don't leave, Betty. No one's making you" he responded, clearly upset.
"I have to do this. For me. I'm following my dream. You can come with me, we can get married and raise a-" Betty was cut off
"I want that more than anything and you know it. But I want it right here in Riverdale. I'm not moving out of this town" he responded.
"We can try long distance. We can facetime and text and call. We can make it work" she suggested.
"No we can't, Betty. I want you here. I want you with me." he said.
"Why aren't you being supportive. This is my dream!" Betty yelled.
"I want to be but how can I support the love of my life moving away from me? It's too hard Betty. Either you stay, or we're done." Jughead yelled back.
"I love you, but I guess we're done" she yelled, and walked out the door, slamming it behind her. Tears welled in her eyes as she walked away. Tears welled in his eyes as he watched.

AN // Get ready for more flashbacks because there'll be quite a few. They'll usually be shorter than normal chapters just like this one but yeah let me know what you think so far! I might update again today but I'm not sure yet. Also vote if you wanted Bughead to stay together.
