Caught In The Storm

Chapter 4

Jughead's POV
"Um, Jellybean, come in" I said, shocked.
She walked into my house and I closed the door behind her.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Mom and I are in town visiting and I wanted to come see you" she said, hugging me.
I haven't seen her in years, what am I supposed to say?
"Do you want a drink or something to eat or anything?" I asked.
"No Jug, I just wanted to see you" she said, excitedly.
All I could think about was how awkward this is. It's been so long, I don't know what to say.
"What's new with you?" I asked.
"Nothing exciting really" she responds. "How about you? How's Betty?"
My heart sank. She doesn't know about us and what happened. She doesn't know that it's over.
"We...um...broke up" I said. It was hard.
"Oh...sorry" she says.
"It's okay" I lied to her.

Cheryl's POV
My phone rings and I look down at the lit up screen. I see Betty's name. We haven't talked since she called to ask if I'd be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I hit answer.
"Hello?" I ask
"Hey, Cheryl, I need your help with something" she says.

Betty's POV
I've been preparing what I'm going to say all day and I'm finally ready to see Jughead. I jump in my car and rev the engine. I'm actually doing this. I pull out of the driveway of my childhood home, and head towards his house. The drive there seems longer than it is. My stomach is filled with butterflies. I have to do this, though. I'm not sure why. Maybe for closure. Or maybe just to go see an old friend. After what seems like 2 hours, I finally reach his house. Cheryl gave me his address even though she made it clear that she didn't approve of this little visit. I sit in my car and prepare what I'm going to say for the hundredth time.
I take a deep breath, and step out of the car. I look up, and that's when I see it.
Jughead in his house, with another girl. I can't make out who it is, but it's definitely a girl. Why am I upset? I moved on. I'm getting married for goodness sake. Why should I be disappointed that he's moved on? I love Jack, not Jughead. Bughead is over. I turn away and walk towards my car. I get in and sit there for a second, taking in what happened. A single tear rolls down my face as I put the car in reverse and start heading home.

Veronica's POV
I'm washing the dishes when I hear my phone ring.
"Coming" I yell, as if whoever it was could hear me.
I dry my hands and run over to my phone. I see Betty's name on the screen.
"Hey" I say into the phone. I can hear her crying. "Oh my gosh Betty, what's wrong?"
"He was with another girl. I went to see him and there was another girl in his house. I don't know why I'm upset. I'm engaged and I love Jack. I moved on from Jughead. Why am I crying Veronica?" she says through sobs.
"I'm coming to see you right now Betty. Are you at your old house?" I ask.
"Yes, I'm up in my room" she says. "The front door is unlocked."
"I'm on my way" I respond.
I walk out of my house and get into my car. Parked down the street is a black van I've never seen before. Probably just a relative visiting one of my neighbors. Nothing important. Right now I need to get to Betty's.
On the way there I call Archie and tell him about what happened. He didn't really seem to care, but I thought I'd let him know.

Jughead's POV
After what seemed like hours of awkward small talk, Jellybean leaves. Ten years ago, I wanted nothing more than for my family to be back together, but now I see that it probably won't happen. I can barely even talk to my own sister. I lay down on the couch and check my phone. Three missed calls from Archie and a text from him that says to call him.
I sigh and dial Archie's number. He picks up almost instantly.
"Yeah?" I ask.
"Dude. Betty came to see you today but you had another girl in your house. She's in tears right now" he says.
I bolt up and start pacing.
"She came to see me?" I clarify
"Yes! And then turned around when she saw that you had another girl in your house" he says.
"It was Jellybean! My sister!" I yell, frustrated.
"She doesn't know that. Her and Veronica are at her house right now, and she's very upset. If you want to talk to her ever again, go fix this" he says.

Sorry about the failed Bughead reunion :( I'm going on vacation with my family so I'm going to try to pre-write a bunch of chapters so I can upload consistently instead of just taking a break.
