Jughead's POV
"Jug, this is incredible" Betty says, smiling.
"I think so" I agree.
"How did you find this?" she asks.
"I don't know. Fate, maybe" I respond.
"It's beautiful. This is exactly what I needed" she says, moving closer. "Thank you"
"Hey, no problem" I respond.
Suddenly she embraces me in a hug. I hug her back, pulling her as close as I can, not wanting to let go.
Betty's the one who eventually pulls away. She meets my eyes and opens her mouth as if she's going to say something. A few moments pass before she clears her throat and turns away.
"So...um...do you wanna sit down?" she asks.
"Sure"Archie's POV
"Ronnie, it's okay. Seriously. I'm sure that Betty's fine" I say.
"But what if she's not? You know what's been going on around here" she responds.
"Have you called Jughead?" I ask.
"Why would he know where she is?" she snaps.
"I don't know. But it's worth a shot. I'll go call him, but you have to promise to calm down" I tell her.
I walk out of the room and dial Jughead's number.
It rings and rings until it eventually goes to voicemail. I try again, just in case. Still, there's no answer.
"So?" Veronica asks, appearing behind me.
"He isn't picking up" I answer.
"What if they're together?" She asks, her eyes widening.
I feel my heart drop. Jughead still loves Betty. And who knows, maybe she still loves him too.
"We have to find them, Ronnie. Now" I say.
I grab the keys, walk out of the house, and climb into the car, with Veronica close behind me.
I start the ignition and back out of the driveway. We drive in silence to Jughead's house.
When we finally arrive, there's one thing that's very noticeable. His car is gone.
"Okay, this means nothing. Maybe he's just out getting groceries" I try to reason.
"Or maybe they ran away together" Veronica says.
I get out of the car and look under the rug outside of his house.
"It's a spare key" I yell to Veronica.
I open up the door and walk in. It appears that everything's there. We even find his suitcase.
"If they ran away together, he would bring extra clothes" I say.
"Arch, we should leave. Jughead's our friend, but this is completely invading his privacy" Veronica says.
"You're right. It really isn't any of our business" I agree.
We walk out of the house, lock the door, and put the key back.
"What are we going to do now?" Veronica asks.
"I don't really know, but we can't keep prying. It isn't our life, it's theirs. We have to let this go. Promise me you're done" I say.
"Promise" she says. "But I'm still going to try to call Betty and figure out where she is"Betty's POV
I wake up laying on the ground in Jughead's arms. Immediately I start to panic. Did anything happen?
Then it slowly starts to come back. Nothing happened. We just fell asleep talking.
"Jug! Juggie! Wake up!" I say while shaking his arm.
He opens his eyes slowly.
"What happened?" he asks.
"Nothing. We fell asleep talking" I explain.
"What time is it?" he asks.
"It looks like the sun is just starting to set. So not too late, but we should probably start heading back" I answer.
"We can't head back yet! You have to watch the sunset here. It's a sight like no other" Jughead says.
"Alright, whatever you say" I respond, laying back down.
The sun starts to set, fast. We just lay there, looking at the sky. Jughead was right. This is beautiful.
After a while the colors start to fade and it gets dark.
"Alright, show's over. Let's get home" Jughead says.
We stand up and start walking towards the car.
"Thank you for this. For all of it" I say after we get in the car.
"Anything for you, Betty Cooper" he responds with a goofy smile on his face. The goofy smile I fell in love with so long ago.
We start the long drive back to Riverdale, but 20 minutes into the drive we pass a building with big neon lights that say "D I N E R"
"I'm starved. Wanna stop in and get some food?" I ask.
"Yes!" Jughead answers.
He parks the car and we both step out. He runs ahead of me and opens the door.
"Ladies first" he says, smiling.
"Why thank you very much" I respond, with a matching smile.
We sit down in a booth and both order burgers.
"Hey, I wonder if they have wifi here. I haven't checked my phone all day. Hopefully no one tried to call me" I say, thinking out loud.
We both pull out our phones and find out that they do have wifi.
Immediately my phone blows up with missed calls and texts from Veronica.
"Woah, Veronica's been trying to get to me all day" I tell Jughead.
"Same with Archie" he says.
"I'll visit them tomorrow. There's no need to worry about it right now" I say.
Just then the waiter arrives with our food. We eat in silence. When we're done, we get the check and Jughead pays.
We walk out of the diner and get back into the car.
Jughead pulls onto the road and we head back home. I only last about 5 minutes before I fall asleep.
Next thing I know, Jughead's shaking my arm.
"Betty! Betty, wake up!" he says.
I sit up straight and look around. We're sitting at the end of my street.
"I didn't know if you wanted me to pull into your driveway because of your mom and everything" Jughead says.
"No, it's fine. You can pull in" I respond.
He starts up the car and pulls into my driveway.
"Thank you again. The whole day was perfect" I say.
"Yeah" he agrees.
Before I even realize what I'm doing, we're both leaning in. Getting closer and closer. I can feel his breath. My lips brush his, and then we kiss. A kiss filled with love and passion, just like in high school. I don't want this moment to ever end. But unfortunately, it's cut short by a banging on the car window.
We pull apart and see my mom.
"Elizabeth Cooper! Inside! Now!" she yells.AN // Sorry I haven't posted, I've been dealing with some family issues. Guys, let me know if there's anything you want in this story or have any suggestions. I welcome all messages and comments :))
