Betty walks into the bar with her friends and they all sit down at a table.
"So, Betty, are you going to find a boy toy tonight?" one of her friends asks, teasingly.
"Yeah, Betty. I know that you loved Jughead and everything, but it's time to move on and find someone new" another friend agrees.
Betty's heart drops at the sound of his name. She hadn't talked about him for a year. She tried her best not to think about him too much, and for the most part, she did a great job. But he was always there in the back of her mind.
"I don't know, guys. I just don't think I'm ready to be in a relationship right now" she tells them.
"Well that's just what you think. I, however, know differently" one of her friends says, standing up and grabbing her hand.
She pulls her over to the bar and they order drinks. Her friend then turns to a man sitting next to them.
"Hey, this is Betty. She's single and ready to mingle" she says.
Then she runs away, back to the table.
"Um...hey. I'm Betty" she says.
"Yeah, I got that. I'm Jack" he says.
"Mind if I sit?" she asks.
"Go ahead" he says, with a smile.
The conversation went on. It was mostly just small talk. Betty's friends watched from the table across the bar.
"So, do you maybe want to get out of here? There's a killer taco place down the street" Jack offers.
"Yeah, sure" Betty says, smiling.
They walk down the street and eat dinner together. It was like there was an instant spark.
But in the back of her mind, through all the smiles and the laughs, all that Betty could think about was Jughead. And she hated herself for it.
AN // Short chapter I'm really sorry. I'm trying hard to get some good, long chapters written and keep the plot moving. It's so crazy that I've already written 15 parts to this story! Let me know what you think and vote if you wish this had never happened!!
