"So it's true? What the hell, Eva? I can't believe that after everything, you just went and slept with my best friend." Ethan's loud voice echoes through the hallway, piercing a hole in the normally preppy atmosphere, as I lean against the lockers in amusement, watching as Eva lets out a malicious laugh in response.

"So what, Ethan? Did you honestly think we'd be together forever or something?" Eva chuckles, flipping her long, dark locks behind her shoulder and manicured fingers folding together.

I watch as Ethan hesitates, a hand finding its way through his own dark locks. He sighs, shaking his head at the girl in front of him with a disbelieving part of his lips.

"Oh wow, you did. How cute." She fawns over the fact, a smirk playing on her glossed lips, leather skirt creasing as she makes a move towards him. "Oh Ethan, what are you without me? All leather and cologne and no girls. No one wants my sloppy seconds. Good luck, bad boy." With that said, I, and the whole school watch as Eva turns on her heel, flicking her fingers for Derek, Ethan's best friend, to follow. He spares a timid glance at Ethan, before scrambling to follow his bed buddy.

I take this time to look around at the students, who are all stood in awe of Eva's badass public dumping ceremony and Ethan's broken heart. It's ridiculous what counts as news nowadays, but the fight spread like wildfire and even made the morning announcements. The breakup, however, was one for the history books.

One that I was ready to report on.

Digging through my bag, I pull out my camera and take a quick flash at the audience. I notice a flinch coming from Ethan, as the camera goes off and he turns in my direction.

"Ah, of course. Little reporter girl ready to collect in on some quotes and pictures. Anything for some readers, right?" Ethan clicks his tongue, rolling his eyes, before allowing them to bore into me, as if to intimidate me into denying the truth.

"Make fun of me all you want. My breakup won't be the one on the front page." I flash him a fake smile, one that I've tossed in his direction since freshman year, watching as his expression falls, before I walk off, ready to write the story that could save the school newspaper.

If there's one thing I've learned in all my years of high school, is that the student body doesn't want to read about how the school lunches offer no nutritional value or how teachers might be cutting back on work hours because lack of income.

They want to know how Ethan Andrews, resident bad boy, got dumped. And I was going to be the one to tell them.
