''Ethan Andrews is every girl's dream. He's heartache wrapped in leather and cheap cologne, topped off with a quick tongue and an aura of mystery. But there's not much more to the cliche bad boy. In the wise word...
Valentine's Day rolls by soon enough and I can't stress how lonely it makes me feel. With the school hallways looking as if a unicorn barfed love all over and couples exchanging roses and chocolates, it was like a slap in the face.
As I approach my locker, a groan escapes my lips as I see a young couple have plastered themselves to it, swapping spit. I glance at the time on my phone impatiently, wondering if I should rudely interrupt them to avoid a close call with the bell. Then again, it wasn't like Ethan and I weren't almost in this position a week and a half ago.
"That looks painful." Jess appears beside me, tilting her head as we continue watching the couple. I turn my head to glance at her, but end up doing a double take at the sudden change in her appearance. In her usual long dark locks place is a haircut just past her shoulders dyed ombré blonde and straightened.

"Holy shit, Jess. You look amazeballs!" I exclaim loudly, pinching her arm, earning a few weird looks from students passing by. She grins shyly, glancing down as her hand rubs the spot I pinched her.
"What made you change it?"
"I went to the salon to see my mom and the ladies thought I wanted my hair done for a hot date, 'cause y'know V day and all. I was way too embarrassed to correct them so I was like aight lets do this. And voila!" Jess spreads her arms, shaking her head slightly to show off her hair.
"Well it looks really good." I reach out, threading my fingers through the bottom of her hair as she laughs and thanks me.
"You excited to go out with Theo?"
"He wasn't very romantic about it. I mean, he said that'd we'd both probably be alone today so why not spend it together? I'm more...curious, I guess." I shrug off-handedly, trying to avoid overthinking it. God knows I already do that enough with Ethan.
"Hm, well guess you'll just see how it goes. In the mean time, shall we?" Jess motions to the couple in front of me locker and I nod, before we stand on either side of them, clapping our hands. They pull apart, scrambling off to find another locker while Jess and I laugh, watching after them.
*** "A bar? You took me to a bar?" I side eye Theo, furrowing my eyebrows in question, as he lets out a deep chuckle. He rests a hand on the small of my back which is covered by a leather jacket and leads me through the area, stopping at a pool table.
"Restaurants are all booked up and busy as hell, so I figured this would be a nice alternative. There's food, pool table, and of course good company." Theo smirks, sending a wink in my direction, as he tugs off his jacket and rests it on a nearby stool. He grabs two pool cues off a rack, before stalking over to me, holding out one.
