What is true happiness?
When can you stand up
and say "I've reached true happiness"
and strut around like a smug pup?
When do you grin
and know you mean it?
How do you feel when you're going to win
in the game of life bit by bit?
I see happiness everywhere,
I see the grins, smiles, and joy.
But how can there be this for each pair
to have this; is depression being coy?
It's as if there's nothing wrong
with the world these days.
Is true happiness this strong?
To be happy I could count the ways.
You could do drugs, drink,
have sex, party all night, find love.
Actually only a few work if you think.
Only one thing can give true happiness from the list above.
Love. It always comes down to love.
Every time I think of happiness,
love is there alongside its white dove,
to erase your world with its blackness.
Of course you feel love's the answer,
it helps that I just told you, too.
Love makes you into a prancer
it makes you never blue.
It relishes in your life,
it never lets you go.
It rids you of all your strife,
it makes your heart exceed their flow.
It stops you caring about drama,
it stops you worrying about exams.
It makes your troubles go into a coma,
and it makes your time together all your plans.
But love is not always the answer,
sometimes it's being confident
in yourself, that could be the answer,
for being comfortable is a great constant.
If you like yourself and your life,
then you know how you'll live it.
So to that wrist don't put a knife,
but put a bracelet instead of a shaky slit.
They shouldn't hit you if they love you,
hitting isn't love, you need to realise.
"I'll never do it again" they'll beg you.
You shouldn't be enemies, you should be allies!
So what is true happiness?
You. You are true happiness.
