Chapter 8

Previously on ThE HeRo In BlUe...

Lance sat in a chair in front of a control panel in his new base. Keith climbed down the ladder, sweating after a short duel with Hunk. "Hey babe." Lance turned around smirking,

"Babe?" Keith shrugged,

"No pet names then?" Lance hugged him then looked down. "What's wrong Lance?" The Purple Paladin shrugged,

"Nothing." It was Keith's turn to smirk,

"I'm your boyfriend Lance, I know when something is wrong." Just as Lance was about to talk he felt a sharp pain in the small of his back and fell over. "Lance!" Keith called out, supporting is fellow paladin. "What's wrong?" Lance stood up leaning heavily against his new lion.

"The flames. Their down, someone... Something penetrated my shield!" The two lovers climbed up the ladder. The princess turned to them with a grim expression upon her face.

"The invasion..." She said, "it's starting." Voltron looked out the window in horror as their home planet was under siege.

Lance jumped into his new and improved lion immediately and launched himself into the fight. His family soon followed, forming Voltron Keith, Jason, Hunk, Pidge, and Shiro helped Lance break through the front line of ships and get closer to the mother ship. "I'm nearing the defenses, let's do this Púrpura, it's time to show Zarkon what we can do!" Just as Lance was about to land on the mothership a black blast of energy shot the Purple Lion over the other ships back twords Voltron.

"ReBirth, attack!" Zarkon shouted. The new enemy began to shoot energy balls into the earth's atmosphere. Unlike her fellow Paladins, Pidge inched closer and closer to the newcomer. She gasped in amazement.

"Shiro, look!" She exclaimed pointing to the figure shrouded in the dark. "It's Matt!" The green lion dodged a blast and regrouped with Voltron. "Shiro, we can't kill him!" Lance groaned,

"Pidge, even though he's your brother we can't save him! Trust me, this is not your brother just as I wasn't the same Lance you knew! He has to be destroyed!" Lance charged ReBirth, but Pidge fired green energy blast at him toppling over his new lion.

"Lance!" Keith called, Lance replied,

"I'm fine... for now... Let's just get onto the ship as planned. Then we can worry about earth." Just as he spoke Voltron watched as Zarkon's main ship teleported on to the planets surface. "Second thoughts... Let's just charge!"

Voltron flew through the atmosphere then landed in between Zarkon and the Garrison. "I'll give you one chance Zarkon!" Lance shouted from inside his lion. "Leave while you can, or be destroyed!" Zarkon grinned then said,

"You would dare destroy the one who created you?" Lance sneered,

"You didn't create me. You just cursed me to be this way for all eternity." Zarkon drew his weapon then Haggar asked,

"Shall we let the battle commence?" Lance shouted,

"Charge!!!!!" Then good and evil began to fight each other for better or for worse.

Lance lost his teammates in the building clouds of smoke and space ship army. He took out six of Zarkon's ships then landed on the mothership. A shot of black energy blasted him onto the ground. He stood up holding a sword.

Matt, or ReBirth, drew his own pitch black sword and charged at Lance. Turning off his com link, Lance parried the strikes then swept underneath Matt's feet. Matt rolled out of the way then ran into the ship. Lance followed and almost got killed. He dodged a blast then matrix dodged another swipe to his face. Catching Matt's wrist with his right hand, Lance used his left to summon a shield and rammed it into Matt's face. Matt stumbled, but didn't fall down. Lance summoned a gun, but Matt threw a knife hitting his right cheek. Lance held his injury, trying to stop the bleeding. His feet were kicked out from underneath him resulting him to hit the floor head first.

The Purple Paladin felt cold metal on his neck and looked up at Matt. "No!" Pidge shouted, she tried to run towards them, but Lance put up an energy dome around his friends preventing them from moving. "Matt! Stop!" The newly build Galra soldier froze and looked up. "It's me, Katie!" The girl was close to tears, "your sister." Lance watched a battle of wills occur inside Matt's eyes.

"It's okay Matt." Lance whispered, "you can kill me. Just don't hurt them." Then he turned to Keith and whispered I love you. The boy pressed the blade deeper into Lance's neck and a little bit of blood began to trickle out. Lance himself was barely aware of the battle around him. He began to slowly stop breathing thanks to Matt's knee on his chest. ReBirth continued to have an internal fight against the urge to kill, but it was too strong. Matt raised the sword in the air then slashed it downwards cutting off the Purple Paladin's head and let it roll across the floor to Voltron's feet.

"No." Hunk said quietly as the purple energy dome began to fade. "This... This isn't real!" Pidge began to cry on Shiro's shoulder. Keith was silent, more emotions raging through him now than there ever was before. Jason was also quiet, he didn't know if it was okay for him to mourn the old blue paladin. His lion on the other hand, roared in both anger and sadness. Blue then continue to rip any ship stupid enough to cross her path to shreds.

"Voltron! What's going on?!" Allura shouted from the castle. "Guys?!" It was Shiro who broke the news to her.

"It's Lance Allura, he's gone." Hunk began to kill each and every galra soldier inside the mothership. Voltron joined him until they reached a big door with the letter 'Z' engraved on it.

"I'm going to kill him." Pidge whispered. Then she shouted, "do you hear me Zarkon?! I'm going to kill you! Come out and fight like a man! Then again, you aren't a man, you're just a mother fucking monster!" The door slid open to reveal a room covered in darkness. Pidge led her team into the room. When the final person entered the door shut itself and locked itself so they couldn't run. The ship began to tilt due to impact on it's hull. "Zarkon?" The lights turned on to reveal Zarkon. Matt was standing on his right side, Haggar on his left. Jason blasted the witch rendering her to fall on the ground. Zarkon chuckled and said,

"I see there's only five candy colored men here today. Where's number six?" Keith growled, but still didn't say anything. "Not talking to me? Well, I see how it is. Who wants the first go at me?" Pidge shot her blaster in his direction, but it sailed over his head. The Lord of Evil smirked, "you missed." It was Pidge's turn to smirk,

"I don't miss." Zarkon turned around as his computer said,

"Five minutes until self destruction. Please use an escape pod so you don't die in a fire explosion."

"Are you crazy?!" Zarkon snarled, "you're just going to kill yourselves!" Shiro crossed his arms,

"And you. We didn't really even need to think about it." Jason pulled out his blaster and aimed it at Zarkon.

"Not to mention, we won't go down without a fight."

"Two minutes until self destruction."

Zarkon underestimated his Hybrid's importance to Voltron. Now he will pay the price.

"One minute until self destruction."

Pidge watched in disbelief as her brother's eyes returned to normal. He looked at her and whispered, "I love you." She nodded then Voltron said their goodbyes.

"Thirty seconds until self destruction."

The throne room began to fell hotter as fires and explosions occured near the control panels.

"Ten seconds until self destruction." Voltron stood strong until the end.

"9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..."

Allura and Coran watched as the mothership went up in flames and explosions. "Coran?! What happened!?" Her father figure wrapped his arms around hers and whispered,

"It's over love. It's over."
