It was now Saturday and Jodie was happy. She had seen her little sister go off to prom and also she reconnected with her mother. She was lucky enough that day, apparently because her father wasn't present. Instead she saw a lot of cousins and aunts that she hadn't seen since she was a teen.

The sun beamed upon her chocolate skin as she walked into the grocery store. Today was the day that she would be going over Keyaan's house. Believe it or not, the two stubborn individuals hadn't spoken a word to each other for a whole week.

I'm only going for Kairi. She told herself as though she was trying to convince herself.

She had planned to cook dinner because as far as she was concerned, Keyaan could only cook a handful of items. She cringed at the thought of poor Kairi eating noodles and mashed potatoes every day.

After grabbing a cart, she went straight to the vegetable and fruit part of the large store. Picking up her wanted items, she added it to the cart and went about her business. After shopping in several isles, Jodie was finished. She bit her bottom lip and cursed herself for getting carried away.

Her mission was to come in and only get the things that she needed for dinner but she just had to be extra and add more things onto the list. In her defense, It was a three for four deal, you can't beat that.

"Hey, how are you doing?" The clerk spoke with a smile.

She finally had arrived at the check out register and begin putting her items on the belt. She watched the lady ring up her items but her eyes searched for the most important item. She face palmed herself.

"I'm sorry, would you excuse me for one moment. I forgot something." Jodie jogged away before the clerk could even do so much as nod her head. Running to the meat market section, Jodie scanned past the chicken legs and ground beef. Looking to her left, Jodie froze as her heart beat picked up its pace. Rakim.

"What the hell is he doing here." She mumbled before taking another glance at him. Her body felt weak and she felt like she could throw up any minute. After grabbing the closes meat packet, Jodie power walked away until she was out of sight and when she was she ran to the register.

"Your total is two hundred-three and seventeen cents. Cash or card?" Jodie slid her card and put her pin in quickly before grabbing her cart that was already filled and jogged out of the store without her receipt and all.

Arriving at Keyaan's, Jodie grabbed as many bags as she could. She unlocked the front door with her key and walked inside. Keyaan was sitting on the couch playing with Kairi. Throwing her in the air and whatnot. He stopped when she came in and just stared at her before shaking his head and continuing his bonding time.

After her several trips, she went to over to them and grabbed Kairi out of his arms and walked to his room with out even sparing him a glance.

Keyaan leaned over with his elbows on his thighs with his fingers intertwined and sighed. He licked over his lips and stood to his six-five height. Walking to where Jodie was, he stood at the door with his arms crossed over his chest.

"So you just gonna keep up with this stank attitude?" He asked.

"I don't know what your talking about." Jodie shrugged nonchalantly. She knew that she was getting under his skin. That was her mission. She wanted to occupy herself so she wouldn't have to replay the image of seeing him again like a slideshow.

Placing Kairi on the large bed, Jodie bent over her and blew into her stomach, causing her to laugh uncontrollably and blow raspberries. Keyaan pushed himself off the door and walked behind Jodie and leaned over her.

They were so close that Jodie could feel his breath on her neck, that alone made her shiver. "Why you playing with me?" He placed a kiss on the back of her neck. "Hmm?"

Jodie rolled her eyes as she smirked. She shrugged him off of her. "Move Keyaan. Don't you have a baby mother for that?"

Keyaan smacked his lips and lifted up. "That's what this is about?" Jodie kept quiet and shrugged.

"Yo, you being real childish right now Armanda."He said with a stern voice, referring to her as her middle name. Shrugging her shoulders, Jodie slipped off her shoes and slid under the cover before grabbing up Kairi and rocking her in her arms while she sucked on her fingers.

Her small eyes begin to flutter close after a while of looking up at Jodie with her big round eyes. Jodie kissed her forehead and rubbed her head in small circles. Jodie didn't realize she was crying until a tear fell onto Kairi's small hand that was wrapped around her finger. She sniffed and wiped her eyes feeling Keyaan pull her into his embrace.

"You want to talk about it?" Keyaan's voice held sincerity and calmness. Something that she knew he always held towards her. At this point Jodie didn't even feel like being childish and petty. She just wanted her best friend to comfort her.

It had been a good six months since Rakim had caused her to have a miscarriage and she couldn't help but think about what kind of mother she would be. She could admit, she wasn't the happiest when she found out that she was carrying but she vowed that she would protect her child.

But to be completely realistic, who would be ecstatic if they found out that they were having a child with an controlling and brutal human being. Jodie cried for days until she built up the courage to finally tell Rakim a month later and even then she regretted it because he beat the baby out of her literally.

"I was pregnant..." She said just above a whisper but Keyaan caught it and he tensed at the thought. Jodie noticed this and sighed.

"It wasn't yours....it was his." She reassured, causing Keyaan to sigh in relief. Not a bad sigh of relief like he didn't want it but more so a sigh that gave him relief that he didn't have to mourn over his child considering Jodie did say was, as in no longer.

She shook her head while placing Kairi under the cover next to her. Throwing herself into Keyaan's arms she sobbed loudly while he rubbed her back at a comfortable speed. He fought back the tears that threatened to fall along with hers.

Seeing women that he loved cry was always a weakness for Keyaan. He used to hate growing up in a house with his mother and grandmother because they were emotional twenty-four seven.

"He killed it.." She cried harder, while covering her mouth. Keyaan's eyes turned into slits when the words left her mouth. He had a plan to find this nigga and fuck up his life. Keyaan didn't know much about this Rakim cat but he knew enough to find him. He had been making Jodie's life a living hell for three years.

Keyaan grabbed Jodie's face and stared into her eyes. "Look at me. Don't let this weak ass nigga take away the little bit of happiness that you have left. I know losing a child is hard and I can't even imagine how you feel but maybe that was a sign from God. Maybe he didn't want you to go through having a child with that dub ass nigga Jodie. Everything happens for a reason baby girl and its either a lesson or a blessing.

"You gonna get through this-We gonna get through this. Together. You're not in this alone baby girl, you know I got your back forever. A thousand and ten percent. I'm not really into the street violence but I know people. All you gotta do is say the word and I'm there." Placing a subtle kiss on her forehead, Keyaan wiped her tears away with the pad of his thumb.

Jodie nodded and hiccuped. "Thank you." She mumbled.

"Is there anything else you wanna talk about?" He cradled her in his arms as if she was a toddler that needed to be put down for a nap. Jodie shook her head. She didn't want to mention the events of today...seeing him. She still couldn't believe it. She knew that Keyaan would go to war for her but she didn't want the drama. She just hoped that her decision to not tell Keyaan wouldn't come back to bite her in the ass.
