Pulling her body up from the ground, Jodie spit out the blood that resided in her mouth. She cringed at the iron metal taste that she couldn't seem to get out of her mouth. Her thighs were in an large amount of pain and she could feel her right eye swollen shut.
After pulling her badly beaten body from the hardwood floors, Jodie staggered as her vision went in and out. Holding her stomach, Jodie cried as an intense pain shot through her.
"No no no. Please." She begged to no one in particular. Jodie watched in horror as the oversized white t-shirt that was stuck to her sweaty body turned a bold red.
Looking around the living space in a panic, Jodie threw around the couch pillows in a frenzy, in search of the home phone.
"Ahhhh." She yelled pulling at her hair, when she came up short. Limping quickly into the bedroom that she shared with Rakim, Jodie pulled the covers off the bed quickly retrieving the phone once she spotted it.
She dialed 911 and put the phone to her ear as another pain shot through her body.
"This is 911, what's your emergency?" A feminine voice blared through the phone as Jodie began to lose consciousness.
"I-I'm bleeding a lot. I'm two months pregnant and- and I need help. The pain is unbearable, I keep losing my vision. P-please send help." Tears ran down Jodie's face while she spoke. She could feel herself blacking out while the words of the operator faded away.
"Please hurry." She spoke softly before slipping out of consciousness.
When Jodie woke, she was awaken by bright lights shining in her eyes and a breathing mask over her mouth and nose.
Looking around she immediately realized that she was in the hospital. She jumped at the sudden sound of the door opening.
"Miss Holmes. I'm happy to see that you've woken up. I'm your nurse Jessica. I'm just going to check your vitals and I'll send your doctor in right away." The lady didn't look to be a day over thirty-five. She was in shape and her golden brown skin complimented her hazel eyes.
After the nurse checked whatever necessary she spoke softly. "Do you need anything? Maybe something to drink?" Jodie nodded slightly and the nurse smiled small.
"I'll bring it right to you." She walked out of the room without another word, letting silence fill the room once again.
Jodie felt her eyes watering and she didn't even fight the tears like she wanted to. She hoped that her baby was okay. She prayed that her baby was okay.
Something told her that that wasn't the case but she refused to believe it. The door opened once more and a older man stood there in some scrubs and a clipboard in his hand.
