A/N: K everybody thank CristinaGeorge because she commented first and is the reason this chapter is up now and not tomorrow:) Prepare yo selves for drama!
I sleep much better than I expected. Probably because of Jordan. I feel safe around him. I can relax. I don't feel so stressed. Of course, that all goes away when I open my eyes. But at the moment, there seems to be a very good reason to do so.
"Ali! Ali! Ali!" Percy yells, bouncing on the edge of the bed. I throw a pillow at him, enjoying the feel of Jordan's arms around me. I don't want to get up. He keeps going. "Ali! Wake! Up!" he continues, being an annoying little brother. My eyes flutter open slightly, to the wonderful sight of Jordan's shirt. Well, that's one way to wake up. I'm on my side, facing him, with his arms still wrapped around me. I sigh. Why on earth would I want to move right now? "Ali! Someone is here to see you!" Percy then says, which gets my attention. My eyes snap open, and I roll over, bolting up. "What?!" I say. Percy giggles and points at the door. Never mind how he managed to get himself in here, did he really let someone in? As I follow his lead, the answer appears to be a big fat yes.
Mitch stands in the doorway. He looks confused, and a little shocked. Yet a shadow of hurt hides behind his eyes. This must look bad. From the outside, it would certainly seem like Jordan and I slept together. And not in the practical way.
*Mitch's POV*
So this is what I get. After all those months. Months of visiting just as much as Jordan. She's already in his bed?! I blink a few times, trying to keep myself from exploding. As she looks at me, I see her eyes for the first time. Very blue. And beautiful. I wrinkle my forehead. I haven't even talked to her yet, not in person. I can't just... She stares at me for a moment. The room seems to go silent. Like everything is just gone except her. I swallow, a steady ache settling on my heart. Not mine to take. His. I force myself to look away, breaking whatever moment we had. It was pure coincidence that he was there when she woke up. It could have just as easily have been me. "Maybe I should go." I say, my voice strained. I've waited all this time. But she's already gone. Her eyes widen "No! This is not what it looks like!" I sigh "Fine Ali." She frowns "Just let me explain." She says, irritated. I hold up a hand "Don't. I see how this is. I'm just in the way. So don't let me bother you." I say bitterly, turning to leave. "Mitch!" she yells, finally snapping. I stop, looking at her. Hair wild, face angry. Strangely attractive.
Jordan stirs beside her, sending a flash of anger through me. Isn't this his fault? Taking advantage of her emotional state like that? It makes me sick. She just found out her parents are dead, and he goes and sleeps with her! It's awful! Percy watches quietly. I wonder if he has any idea who I am. Ali's face falls slightly "Just listen to me." She says, her voice falling into a sort of deadly calm tone. Jordan sits up slowly, eyes locked on me "What is going on?" he say carefully. Percy smiles, seemingly still oblivious "This guy wanted to see Ali. So I let him in." Ali buries her face in her hands, horrified. Jordan stares at her for a moment "Did you come here just to hurt her?!" he says, his voice rising in anger. Defensiveness. At least he might care about her a bit. I laugh in frustration "Well I wasn't expecting this!" I throw my arms out. He raises an eyebrow "This? This is nothing, Mitch!" I look at them "Doesn't look like nothing!" I say, my voice matching his in volume. Jordan throws up his hands. "We ran out of couch space." Percy pipes up innocently. His voice brings a certain calm to the situation, making me take a step back and re-evaluate. If what he said is true, than this really is nothing. I turn a bit red, embarrassed at my behavior. Ali remains withdrawn. Jordan nudges her slightly, and she looks up, jumping a bit. She seems to regain her composure. "Why would it matter even if it was something?" she asks me quietly. Jordan wraps a hand around hers gently, without really seeming to think about it. There is an air on comfortable familiarity around them, like they've been together their whole lives. Like they don't even have to think about each other, they just move as one. I blink, looking down. "I just... I don't want you to get hurt." I mumble. Jordan's face darkens. She takes a deep breath and squeezes his hand. Do I hurt him with my words? That would be the only reason he would act like that. I set my jaw and stand taller. That hit home. Even if I didn't mean it to. He glances at her and seems to relax a bit. She just stares into his eyes for a moment, as if 'm not even here. She does love him. No matter if I'd been there first, it would have been him. He always needed her more. Was always more passionate about getting her to wake up. He always gets what he wants. This time, it happened to be Ali. I don't even really know her, but I know I missed out. The room stays silent for a moment, and the tone changes as this sets in. I look down in submission. She's already his. I acknowledge that now. Anyone could see it. I just hope she's happy. "Can we have a minute?" Jordan asks, glancing at my briefly. What effort it must have taken to stop making goggily eyes at her. I nod, and walk out, still tense and a bit upset. More because of the missed opportunity. I know there is nothing I can do about it. But it's exhausting all the same.
A/N: OOOOOOOO BABY!!! Drop a comment yelling at me for bringing in Mitch (as I know all my jali shippers will do) and slap dat vote button! but try not to freak out to hard! I don't plan on having Ali cheat on Jordan. yet:)
