Remember When....

Tattoo Time

Lynds and I finally arrived at the tattoo parlor. I could tell she was excited but not nearly as excited as I thought she was going to be.

"You alright Lynds?"

"I will be." She replies with a cheeky smile and I give her a look back with sympathy in my expression.

"Kels...you're a lucky son of a bitch, y'know."

"What do you mean?" I reply laughing a little, taking it as a joke.

"Your parents are happily married and you're in a happy household."

"Oh little do you know Lynds." I look away knowing what has happened between my parents and knowing I kept it from Lynds. She looks at me with a questioning expression so I sighed and told her,

"my mom cheated on my dad more than once and I'm the one who told my dad."

Her eyes widen.

"Woah woah woah don't make your eyes pop out." I say chuckling. I look at the tattoo parlor, grab my phone and watch and look at Lynds.

"C'mon let's get tatted."

We got out of the car and headed into the parlor. As soon as we walk in we are greeted with two, sweet pit bulls. Lynds got so happy she sat down on the ground and was playing with them while I went over to talk to the guy at the counter.

"What can I do for you girls?" The man behind the counter said.

"Me and my best friend want to get these," I pull up the picture on my phone. While he looks at it I see he is wearing a name tag that read :'Mike'.

"And where are you two thinking of getting these?" Mike asked and I pointed to my chest. About an inch below my left collarbone.

"Both of you in the same spot?"

I nodded.

"Alright I'll go print it up but before I get started I'm going to need to see your ID."

I handed Mike my ID and Lynds handed me hers since she was having too much fun with the dogs.

"She likes dogs doesn't she." He stated while letting out a little giggle.

"Yeah," I giggle "I knew about them so that's why I brought her here. Pit bulls are out favorite."

"Dope well the red one is Rider and the blue one is Parker, both boys." Mike said pointing to the dogs when he said their names.

I nodded and went back over to Lynds. She was having such a blast with Rider and Parker I haven't seen her that happy in a while.

"Alright sweetheart," said Mike on his way over to the counter "how do these look?" He brought out the printed image and I smiled big.

"Perfect." I said still smiling like an idiot.

"Great." He smiles back and hands me my phone back. "Oh by the way your boyfriend kept calling when I was printing the picture."

I took my phone and said "It was my girlfriend but thanks."

"Oh shit my bad." He awkwardly laughed and walked away looking at my phone.

We waited about 5 more minutes until we got called back. A somewhat tall brunette came into the room. She had gray eyes and so many tattoos. She was gorgeous.

"Hey, I'm Meagan. I'm going to be your tattoo artist today." Her smile was so beautiful and her teeth were straight and as white as pearls.

"I'm Lyndsey and this is Kelsey." Said Lynds, one hand extending out to shake with Meagan and the other pointing at me when she said my name. I smile and shake Meagan's hand as well.

"So, which one is going first?" Meagan asked and I looked at Lynds.

"Me I guess." Lynds says laughing nervously. Meagan smiles and prepares the utensils and the materials. Lynds sat in the chair and Meagan got me a chair to sit next to Lynds. Meagan applied the stencil on Lyndsey's chest and it was placed perfectly. Lynds grabbed my arm and looked at me.

"I love you." Lynds said.

"I love you." I replied. And looked at Meagan who started up the needle.

"You ready?" Meagan asked Lynds and she nodded.

When the needle touched her skin she didn't even flinch. Lynds, Meagan and I made small talk through the time of the tattoo. When she was done we switched spots. I was about midway through mine when Lynds got up and said she was going to go outside for a few minutes.

"So she's your best friend?" Meagan asked

"Yep. The one and only." I replied

"You're cute." Meagan says in a breathy voice and it kind of takes me off guard.

"What?"

Meagan stopped the tattoo gun and looked at me.

"I said you're cute."

I felt myself start blushing and she smiled and went back to doing my tattoo. I thanked her and she winked at me, making me blush even more.

What the actual fuck Kelsey you have a girlfriend .

"I have a girlfriend." I said abruptly and Meagan looked up at me.

"You do? Hm well she's one lucky girl."

I awkwardly smiled knowing what's been going on lately was no where near luck. Meagan and I continued talking about other things and Lynds joined us again. About 10 minutes after, Meagan was done. Lynds and I took pictures and paid for the tattoos. Right when I was about ready to walk out, Meagan called me,

"Kelsey!"

I turned around and she handed me a piece of paper.

"Just in case you and your girl don't workout." She says with a wink. I smile and walk out. Lynds is looking at me curious as to what just happened.

"Don't worry about it." I say shaking it off like it was nothing because it honestly was nothing. I take Lynds back to my house and stays for a little while then decides to head back home.

"I love you Lynds. Call or text me if you need anything." I kiss her cheek and give her big hug before I watch her get in her Jeep and drive away.

I was laying in my room listening to music when I remembered Caylen called me a while back. I dialed her number but it went straight to voicemail so I grab my keys and head to her place. No cars where in the driveway and I thought it was really odd. The door was unlocked so I let myself in. I walk up to Caylen's room just to have my heart crumble into a million pieces.

"Caylen?" I say with tears welled up in my eyes from witnessing Caylen with another girl.

She pops up. "Kelsey!"

I shake my head and turn around to walk out of the room. Caylen is yelling after me but I continue to leave. I walk out the door and hop into my car. When I start my car I look to see the promise ring on my hand and as I back up I take it off and throw it out the window. As soon as it hits the ground Caylen is outside. I drive off wiping my tears and I look around for the paper Meagan gave me. I dialed the number and she picked up:

"Hello?"

"Meagan this is Kelsey. Hey um so shit just happened and I need someone right now so is there any way we can meet up or something?"

Meagan hesitated "uhh y-yeah sure u-umm my address is 1206 Maddux Ln."

"Okay great I'll be there soon." I hang up and go to the app on my phone titled 'Map'. After typing in the address I notice it's only right down the street from where I am now. When I get there I park next to the curb. I'm scared of what I'm doing but I don't really care at this point. I walk up to the tan wooden door of her beautiful single story house. I knock on the door.
