Caylen sat up a little to hug Jason. They hugged for what seemed like hours. She loved him like her own, now deceased, brother.

"How do you feel?" He asked her caring-like.

She started crying and said "I'm doing fine just in a lot of pain."

I got up quickly and scarcely said "I'll get the nurse-"

She stopped me and said "not physically..."

I understood what she meant. I know she feels terrible for her parents and her brother but she also knows she can't go back in time and change anything about it. I went back to my seat and started reading again.

"How's Heather?" Caylen asked Jason.

"She's good...stressed out but good. A massive exam is coming up next week. How have you been babygirl?"

"Eh I'm alright I guess. Just going with the flow."

They both chuckled a little and I went on a walk around the hospital so I can give them some one-on-one time. When I came back, something happened that scared me to death.

I heard Caylen say to Jason "Hey, remember when we went to San Francisco for the weekend? That was a great experience."

Jason looked at me confused then looked back at Caylen.

"CC we never went to San Francisco."

"Oh. Then it must have been with someone else."

I looked at her and slowly said "Babe...y-you've never been to San Francisco."

She looks back and forth between Jason and I.

"Yeah I went two summers ago. We went shopping on Pier 39 and ate incredible food. We went to the aquarium on the Pier and went on a boat ride around the bay."

"No babe you've never been there. I don't even know how you know about all that." I said probably looking a little terrified.

"Yeah I went there once I remember driving over the Golden Gate Bridge and leaving through Oakland."

I burst into tears. I shoved myself in the corner with my hands over my mouth trying to hold in my cries. Jason looked worried then turned to Caylen and patted her shoulder.

"You look a little hungry darling, would you like to go to the cafeteria?"

Caylen slowly nodded her head so Jason got the nurse. After everything was taken care of and they got Caylen in a wheelchair, Jason started pushing her to the cafeteria. While they were gone I talked to the nurse about what had happened.

"Yes...that has a 5o/50 chance of either staying or going back to the way it was. Just try your best to get her back into her normal daily routine as soon as possible. She's getting released tomorrow morning so as long as you're by her side she'll be perfectly fine my dear." Said the older, caring nurse.

I called Caylen's mom and told her everything including the incident and what the nurse said. After the phone call I patiently sat in one of the chairs in the room. A half-an-hour later Jason and Caylen came back to the room.

"Here babe." Caylen said handing me an Arizona green tea.

"Thank you baby." I replied looking adoringly at my beautiful girlfriend.

Caylen smiled and said "I know you didn't ask for anything but I haven't seen you eat or drink anything so I got you that. I also got you a cookie but I ate it."

She giggled and apologized as I blushed and smiled so hard my cheeks started hurting. I kissed her on the lips as if to say 'thank you' then I put down my drink in order to help Jason with putting Caylen back in the bed. Jason looked tired and sad.

"I hate to leave so early love but I have to catch my flight back."

Caylen looked at him understandingly and smiled "It was a nice surprise to see you kid," Caylen said "have a nice flight, tell Heather I said hi and please be safe."

He smiled and hugged her again for what seemed like hours. He gently kissed her forehead then came over to me to tell me goodbye. We hugged for so long but not as long as they hugged.

He kissed my forehead and whispered in my ear "She'll be okay."

I nodded and he let go of me. He walked out while waving and smiling. I went over to the side of Caylen's bed, pulled up a chair and looked into her eyes. I grabbed her fragile, cold hand and kissed it softly right on that one protruding vein on her left hand.

"You doing okay my love?" She nodded and tried to say 'thank you' but nothing came out except precious air. I smiled and rested my head on her bed......................

I guess I fell asleep in the same position because I was awoken just how I remember being by her mom.

"I know it's been tough sweetie but she's being released right now."

We both smiled and I gently woke my beautiful lover from her slumber.
