Chapter 3
•~•Sam•~•
Lilah is not a morning person. She walked in this morning at 6:00, the wake up time, with rumpled clothes and hair that was all over the place. I gave her a smile and she smiled back, or at least tried to, it was more like a grimace. She sat down on a stool at the bar while I poured her a cup of coffee. Taking the mug in her hands, she started asking about the day.
"So what are we starting with? What are we training for? Do we have to do conditioning? How long-"
I laughed. "Wow, slow down it's still morning." She blushed and I chuckled again.
"Ok umm..breakfast, the journey, yes." She groaned as I said yes apparently not happy with conditioning. I can't help but pick on her a little. "Huh. Little miss 'dawn jog' doesn't want to work out? I'm a little disappointed." She smirks before replying, and catching me off guard.
"I said run yesterday, and I groaned because I don't need conditioning or training. Might I remind you I've been through here before."
My brows furrow and she laughs. I was expecting her to be a little less sarcastic this early, but I'm not that lucky. "Awe come on Sam! I'm just kidding!" She laughs more, "I jog so early so I can catch up with my friend. He's the shady kind of 'hide in the shadows' type."
"Why in earth would you hang out with some one like that?" I'm confused now. She shouldn't hang out with an asshole, or as she put it, 'shady' guy. She laughs again.
"Damien's not that bad. He just doesn't like people. He just has a shady hobby I guess..... that sounded weird. Ok he is into knife throwing" She explains. I don't understand where she found this guy, but he already sounds like bad news.
I scoff, "I bet he throws just like the jackass he sounds like.." I was stopped short by Lilah's menacing glare.
"Damien's the second best thrower I know. So just shut up. You can't judge someone you don't know." With that she turned and went back to her room, already finished with her breakfast. I clean up the plates and put the left overs in the fridge. Coincidentally we are starting with throwing knives today so I guess she'll see who's the best now.

Two hours later I am standing in the middle of the floor gawking at Lilah. She smirks, then speaks.
"There is a reason I said Damien was the second best thrower there is." Now it sucks to be beat by a girl, but it sucks more to be beat by a girl you are supposed to be teaching! I was completely blown away by this girl's throwing skills, completely! She had a perfect stance, and such accurate aim she could pin a guy by the sleeve of his shirt and he wouldn't even be nicked, I know this from experience... I actually learned a couple new throws from her that she invented! Right before we took a lunch break she turned to me and spoke a sentence that sent such shock through my body you would have thought I had been electrocuted.
"How do you think I made it through that forest the first time?"

•~• Lilah's POV •~•
Ok so I admit it, I didn't make it through that forest with out any skills what so ever. I knew how to throw knives so I could hunt and protect my self from a physical attack, took me until I the day before I left to figure out how to handle mental attacks. Yes I said mental. There are creatures in that forest that feed nightmares into your brain as you sleep, and slowly but surely drive you insane until you kill yourself. I didn't stay long enough to go that far, but the dreams are truly horrible.
The night before I left I figured that it was a creature, and which creature it was. Once I knew it was just a creature I found that the dreams lost their reality factor, the dreams no longer seemed like anything more than dreams. With that knowledge fresh in my brain I decided I didn't want to try to go deeper into the forest. So I started my trek back.
There is no greater feeling of relief than when you step out of those trees and know you are forever safe. Well not forever considering I am going back, but most of forever. At that time though I had no idea how long forever was.
After lunch was conditioning and it wasn't hard at all. When I told Sam I didn't need conditioning I wasn't kidding. I had a six pack and could keep up with an immensely strong Damien so I didn't need this workout, but I did it anyways. Sam seems happy with my work and goes off to make dinner releasing me to free time, so long as I stay in the house. As if I was going to leave!

•~•Sam's POV•~•
Lilah is an amazing athlete, with a great personality. I constantly find myself getting lost in her looks. She is beautiful, and smart, and funny, and wicked with a knife. Although she is a bit too sarcastic for her own good.
Tomorrow we go for a field trip to the edge of the guarded area. Part of the forest is guarded with an eight foot fence. It keeps out animals but allows us to get a sense of the plants. First I'm going to show her which plants are poisonous, then it's sword training. Tomorrow is running, and creatures and magic study. We will base the rest of the training pattern on which areas she is strong and weak in. It doesn't sound like a lot but when you have only one person teaching four subjects it takes a while, normally about a month, this should take two to two and a half weeks. Lilah's something special and training her will be a pleasure. I'm already excited to see her smiling face tomorrow.

****INFO ABOUT UPDATES****So not a lot has changed with the first few chapter besides like grammatical editing and such, that being said I'm not an editor, nor a grammar expert so it's not perfect. I'm going to try to update weekly, most likely on Saturdays, until I'm get most of the chapters updated. Once I'm back to around twenty chapters (there's more than twenty chapters now cause I added stuff and did some major editing) it could be like a new update every two-three weeks until school starts.
Also, most if not all the chapters should be longer. I'm writing on my laptop, now that I have a laptop, instead of before when all this was done on my iPod. So now I can see the word count and the smallest shatter so far has 500 something words(which was the old norm) most the chapters have like double or triple that now so yay!
Thanks to whoever bothers to read the authors notes, if anyone does.
