CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:

Squirt got back to the shack with Halt inspecting Will's target. It had 2 arrows on the red circle target and 1 just on the line of the red circle the rest were scattered all over the target or on the ground.

"Not bad not bad at all" she heard Halt say then she heard him add an insult to stop Will from grinning. Squirt shook her head. He was always so hard on him, she thought, Halt looked up from Will and saw Squirt

"Squirt?" He said "What are you doing here?" He asked, Squirt look at him putting her eye browns into a furrow

"What do you mean? I'm meant to be here for-" Halt cut her off,

"Yes I know that but you're actually on time shouldn't you be here in about half an hour?" He said. Squirt shook her head and glared

"Very funny" she said completely straight faced. Will let out a quiet giggle but Squirt heard it

"Will shut up" she said.

"What?" He said "It's funny" Halt sighed

"Come on you two let's go" he said

"Go?" Will asked "Go where?" Halt sighed again but more angrily

"Squirt's right, you should shut up" He said

They all walked in silence, Squirt could tell that Will was suffocating not being allowed to ask his bubbling questions that were about to burst. After about ten minutes Squirt got bored of watching Will being tortured and started to think about Horace. She frowned as she thought about his ribs. They were badly bruised and she couldn't help thinking that he got it wrong about the older year cadets being allowed to give Horace a hard time. It just didn't sound like Rodney. She thought about this until they came to a small clearing about an hour later where a few buildings stood. Squirt busy in her though didn't notice and when Halt and Will stopped in front of a ramshackle hut she kept walking. Suddenly she felt something hard hit her foot putting her off balance. She fell to the ground and was cutoff from hr thoughts. She heard giggling and looked back to see Will giggling and Halt smiling at her

"Are you right there?" Halt asked. Then a shadow came over Her from behind she turned her head to see an old man

"Well hello Squirt!" The man said

"Old Bob!" Squirt laughed in greeting "You haven't changed a bit!" she said as she stood up, Old Bob laughed

"Well you certainly have!" When I last saw you, you were 14 and always I trouble and now I hear that you're apprenticed to Halt and all grown up!" Squirt smiled. She had always loved Old Bob he was easy to get along with he always made sure that he never called her young, then she heard Halt speak from behind

"Well still is always trouble. Halt said and the smile was wiped off Squirt's face

"I'm not that bad" he said while glaring at Halt, Halt simply laughed, but it wasn't a happy laugh

"You punched someone only a few days ago!" He said and Will and Squirt looked at each other, Squirt took a deep breath

"HE DESERVED IT!!!!!" She yelled, she heard Old Bob crack up laughing behind her and she turned and glared at him "What?" She said in a more calm voice "He did" she said "But you don't have to worry I apologised to him today and he forgave me" she said this to Halt and Will

"Horace forgave you?" Will asked in disbelief. Then Halt went wide eyed

"Horace? You don't mean Horace as in the boy that was apprenticed by Rodney at choosing do you?" Halt asked. Both Will and Squirt hung their heads and started shuffling their feet. Halt took a long deep breath to keep him self tame. Old Bob just laughed
