Mila's P.O.V
I crept to the ward door and peeped through the small glass. No one is at his place. Great. Hes sleeping. I opened the door as quietly as I could. I saw a tray near his bed, which consist porridge filled to the brim of the bowl, and a cup of tea with a smell I found was very pleasant and relaxing.
However, the reason I came, is not to let this boy live a long and relaxing life. I took out a box with 20 packets of 'salt', added it to the soup and stir it thoroughly with a spoon. The 'salt' had dissolved within seconds. Perfect.
That is actually not salt, my friends. My scene is not going to be as boring as that. That is a special weapon for me, called Rohypnol. What is its power? You'll see.
Stephanie's P.O.V
I ran towards the ward Michael was in. His doctor called me a few minutes ago, saying that hes dying in a panicking tone. Who in the world will ignore that call if they were on my shoes?
I banged the door open, seeing Michael lying on the bed relaxingly, playing Flappy Bird. I glared at the doctor, asking without my voice coming out, about what was going on. His only answer is a timid shrug. Michael looked up and smiled.
"I know you'll come." he sniggered. I rolled my eyes and came for the door. "Wait, I have something to say to you. Please."
I stopped my step and looked at him once again.
"I didn't bully you. It was a misunderstanding."
"Liar. Mila saw a book with your name on it."
"That wasn't a strong evidence to support your assumption."
"But-"
"I was bullied, too. I'm a victim of this one guy who had a dragon tatoo at his upper arm. Oh, Monster was his nickname."
That nickname. I remembered it clearly. His face started to appear right in front of mine. The spiky hair dyed bloody red, the green dragon at his right arm, and his ears pierced at almost every spot, leaving very small and short intervals in between the holes. His gaze made me quiver. His kicks at my fragile body caused me to beg for death at that period. He was the monster of my life. And I realised, that he bullied Michael too.
"That day, he wanted to copy my work," he added.
"Wow," I said in disbelief. "You have a brawny body, so how did he bully you? Is your body just for display?"
"No!" he immediately snapped. I laughed at his ego. "I worked out so that he'd stop bullying me."
"Oh," I said, suddenly speechless. I was doubting him. What he said was logical, but there is just one voice in my head that keeps telling me not to believe him. However, when I think again, I never told Michael anything about Monster, yet he described him very accurately. Moreover, Michael had never dyed his hair before, unless he lied to me about that.
"Fine. I believe you." I gave in.
The edges of his lips were raised. I could see the beautiful and sincere smile again. I smiled as well. Just like the quote, "A smile is contagious."
I got up from the seat. I waved Michael goodbye and thought of Allie. Its been a while since I've come over. I should give a little bit of a surprise visit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The visit was quite unexpected. Allie was actually busy when I came in. She was with her other besties. Sigh. I do feel jealous at times. But its kind of unfair. She was the cause of the fight, yet I was the one who suffered the loneliness.
It was awkward. I crept into the main gate of her house to the backyard. When I leaped from her dog's pen and shouted "Boo!", I was startled myself to see three wide human eyes staring at me at the patio. I never expected anyone else to come over Allie's house when I was. Allie is always either alone or with me. Not with anyone else.
A girl I did not recognise stood up, giving out a scowl, her eyebrows narrowing, her locks of her curly blonde hair flipped to her back. She said in an annoyed tone, "Who are you? Apparently, you're spoiling our great time."
My throat was placed at my foot. I was speechless and lost. I glanced at Allie. She had a blank expression.
"Oh, Stephanie," She waved awkwardly and tried to pull off a smile. "Say hi to my friends, Marissa and Violet. "
"Best friends, you mean," Marissa snapped and grinned.
What a snob. She didn't even know I'm Allie's bestie earlier than her. She also looked like one of those typical meanies in the school. Despite so, I've never seen her in school. Mysterious.
"Marissa was in the same campus as me," Allie said, as if she could read my thoughts. "Oh, and I forgot to tell you, I went to a camp during summer. I couldn't tell you because-"
"I know," I cut off her explanation. I did not want her best friends to know about our fight, and I hope that she did not tell them too.
"Sorry to interrupt you guys. Have fun," I concluded our conversation and ran out of their sight.
When I arrived home, two people were waiting for me.
"Hey, Stephie baby," my mom greeted me. "Look at whos here!"
I was not surprised. Its Mila, sitting comfortably on the sofa. I tried my hardest not to frown.
"Why aren't you greeting her? Aren't you happy she's back?" Tiffany questioned, scratching her head.
"Mhmm. Hi. Long time no see," I said monotonously.
"Hey. Miss you lots," she replied with a smile I cannot interpret. "Help me with unpacking, will you?"
I sighed before answering. "Fine."
We settled in her former room. I knew she wasn't here to work. She wanted to know my decision. I still have not decided, and I am not ready at all to do so.
"Lets hear your answer, but before that, I'll just inform you what will happen," she took a short breath and continued. "If you choose to live your old life, say goodbye to Michael. You can't see him anymore. And if you choose to live your life without me, you can't see me anymore too.
"But, this one is a little more special than the first option. I won't be the only one who will leave your life. Jake and Clarice. They will join me." Mila finished.
Wow. To be honest, the consequences are just too much. I thought thoroughly. Michael did not do anything wrong to deserve all these hate. I could not bear to put Michael through a life alone, homeless and without family to trust.
Thats it.
"Michael." That was what I chose to live with.
Mila's expression mysteriously did not change. She took her luggage which was actually empty and began to walk away, with her last word "Fine."
I was startled after the tension to hear my ringtone vibrating from my sling bag. Of course, I answered it.
"I'm sorry, Miss Stephanie, but Michael Bradley had died a few minutes ago."
My phone was slipped out of the grasp of my hand.
