Chapter 26

I wake up beside Nathan and I hear my phone beep.

From: Karen

Come quick. Something's wrong with Sophie.

To: Karen

I'll be there straight away.

I shake Nathan.

"NATHAN! YOUR MOM TEXTED! SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH SOPHIE!" I scream as he instantly gets up and we get dressed before running down the stairs and out of the housse and into the car beore driving to his mom's house.

We run in and see Sophie laid on the floor gasping for air.

"What happened?" I ask as Karen shrugs.

"We don't know. She was fine and then she came in here with us before she started gasping for air." Karen says as I pick her up and take her outside.

"Deep breaths baby. Deep breaths." I say as she's still gasping for air.

"Nathan, call an ambulance or something." I keep trying to help Sophie before an ambulance arrives and they take her into the back of the ambulance with an oxygen mask.

"I'll go with Sophie, Nathan. You bring yourself, Karen and Jess to the hospital, okay? I'll meet you there." I say as Nathan nods and hugs me before I get in the ambulance and hold Sophie's tiny hand in mine.

"Do you know what's wrong with her?" I ask as the nurse shrugs.

"Do you or your boyfriend smoke?" She asks as I shake my head.

"No why?" She looks at her notes.

"Sophie may or may not have Asthma but did you know she was epileptic?" I nod.

"We knew she was epileptic but we don't know which one." I say as the nurse looks through her notes.

"Photo sensitivity." She says.

"We're gonna have to run some tests once we get back." I nod and sophie plays with my finger.

"Is she gonna be okay?" I ask as the nurse nods.

"She should be fine."

I'm sat in the waiting room when I hear Nathan say my name.

I run to him and hug him.

"You know that we didn't know which form of epilepsy Sophie has?" I ask as he nods.

"She has Photo sensitive epilepsy." I say.

"The nurse said she may or may not have asthma also. They're running some tests now. She wanted to see you before they ran the tests but you weren't here."

"Miss. Drew and Mr. Sykes." A nurse calls as we run to her.

"You may go and see your daughter." We run to her room and walk in before she turns her head and smiles brightly at us.

"MOMMY! DADDY!" She screams as we run to her and hug her.

"They said I had an attack." She says cutely as I look at Nathan.

"What attack sweetie?" I say as she shrugs.

"I dunno."

A nurse walks in and smiles at us.

"Sophie had an asthma attack. It turns out she doesn't only have photo sensitive epilepsy but she also has Asthma." The nurse says as I nod and move some of Sophie's hair out of her face.

She gives us some leaflets on Photo Sensitive Epilepsy and Asthma as we thank her.

"My daughter has Epilepsy and Asthma?" Nathan asks as I nod.

"I..." Nathan trails as I hug him and he hugs me back.

"It's okay. We're gonna help her. We're gonna try to help her." I whisper to him as he nods.

"Sophie. We're gonna help you. We're gonna try, okay?" I say as she nods.

We're gonna help her.
