Double Standards

Ok I'm about to go on a mini rant so be prepared.

In our society, asian jokes are considered funny, maybe lame, but mostly, people don't bat an eye toward them. A comedian was under pressure months ago for making a racist jokes about Asian males being unattractive on national television. He was criticized and everything, but as time moved on, people forgot about it and let it go and he advanced in his career.

Now, flip the tables. Imagine an asian man making a racist joke about how black men are unattractive on television. Think about it. That would basically guaranteed that the comedian's career was over. The reaction would be so much more angry.

Take a moment to wonder, why did I use black people above as an example? Why not white people, or hispanic people, etc.? Because that is where the gap between asians and other races is the biggest. In your life, you probably hear a decent or large amount of asian jokes. A considerable amount of white people jokes. (Like, "Stereotypical white girl at Starbucks,"or "Rich White people,") but have you ever, ever, heard a joke about black people? Now, people, please don't take offense, I'm not trying to be racist. This book was made for some light-hearted laughs, not to make people angry.  And, I stress this point again, I am not targeting black people at all, I just used it as an example. It's just a little mini rant triggered by something that happened at school today.
