I sat and listened intently as he spoke, his voice shaking and stumbling as if it was trying to find its way in the dark.
"a-and I know it doesn't exist...I'd just like to be a bb-bit closer to it. But how can you get closer to something that-that doesn't exist? Even when everything is telling you to find that place?"
My brain whizzed and flickered, searching... but nothing came to me. I had nothing to offer this boy who just took my hand and lead my through one of the many locked doors inside of himself. I didn't even know how to navigate my own thoughts, and yet here I was, hand-in-hand, strolling through his own.
He dared to look back up, his brown eyes almost entirely hidden beneath his shaggy hair. His hair itself seemed to blend into the night stained room.
Perhaps it was the gentle "welcome" that spoke from his actions as we sashayed through every thought. Perhaps it was his pain stricken eyes- shattered and sharp, but still glowing. Or, perhaps it was his smile. The smile that, even after everything, could still be something so flawless and lovely.
He was someone scared and sad. Someone who thought they were worth nothing, but was offering me everything.
I took it.
I took it because I had seen what he did to himself, how he self destructed so many times. How he put himself on clearance because everyone told him he would never be wanted.
However, I knew. I knew he was worth the stars, and that, if he asked, I would give them to him.So perhaps it was the stars reflecting off his eyes as they finally reached mine, or maybe the moon, or even the soft glow emanating from his smile, but I knew he wasn't as he claimed.
He was everything I had ever wanted, and would ever need.
He grabbed my wrist as I stared in his eyes, watching the light in them, and I remembered I had yet to speak, to answer his pain.
"...I found it though, that perfect place..."
He only managed to stare at me, dumbfounded and completely confused.
"It's you."
At that moment, my gods, I could of sworn he was made of stardust. That even if I did bring the stars to him, he would outshine them. Every part of him was blushing and glowing so beautifully. And, at that moment, I realized I was in love with him, and he held no price, but the worth of everything in my heart.
