Alice's Point of View
I ran as fast as possible away from Iris, her words triggering a memory deep inside me. I had to find Jasper, I had to make sure that he was safe. Jasper was the elder of the tribe and I spent all of my time with him, I loved listening to his old stories and we told each other secrets. He always called me 'little one' and I was the only one in the tribe that knew he was a Holder. A Holder is a type of werewolf who Harbors an element. There are only four every life cycle, they used their elements to heal and combat other beings that threatened werewolves. He was the last of his life cycle of Holders, as long as one is alive the new Holders' powers aren't prominent, he was Air. Once a Holder dies his power goes to the next Holder, male to female and female to male. Jasper had long since given up his immortality, he mated with a human and when she died he gave up his wolf so that he could die and be with her. I ran down the hallway at full speed, darted up the stairs, and down the hall. When I reached his door I knocked. I heard a whisper for me to come in and I burst in. Jasper was watering his Banzai tree, his beard trailing behind him as he walked. Jasper was a man who was small in stature and his words sounded like a whispering wind, but he had a way about him that captured all light in the room and focused it on him, he radiated power. His eyes were a bright yellow and when he walked he seemed to float, he had many tattoos that had weathered with age. He looked at me and his face lit up.
"Little one!" he exclaimed and I ran up and hugged him, squeezing his small frame in relief that he was okay. I looked up into his wizened face and he flicked his wrist and a wind shut the door behind me.
"Jasper!" I sighed in relief, "You are okay!"
"Why wouldn't I be?" he puzzled.
"Don't you know?" I was astonished, Jasper always seemed to know everything.
"All I know is that I know nothing." He philosophized, he let me go and walked back to his plants. The window was open and I had the sudden urge to run forward and slam it closed.
"The Burnt Oak Pack, they are attacking us! We need to keep you safe! I know that they must be after you to kill you, they must have the other Holders, they cant activate them without you dead. Come with me, I will keep you safe." I pleaded with him and he turned back to me with a sad smile on his face.
"How funny, youth today regrets death, little one I plead daily to die. They would merely be doing me a favor. And I know they do not have the Nexus. Did I ever tell you that the elements can sense each other?" He asked.
"No, but, Jasper! You can take me to them and we can free them." I said, getting excited.
"No one needs saving, as long as their soul is free no amount of bondage can restrain them." He said, when he turned away I heard a bang and a few women scream.
"Please!" I screamed at him, "Come with me!" he shook his head sadly. There was a knock on the door and his head snapped towards it.
"Hide little one, and no matter what you hear you are not to come out." He ordered. I shook my head and my eyes pleaded with him to not answer the door.
"Now!" He growled. I looked at him with tears dripping down the side of my face, there was still time to escape. There was another knock on the door and I started to shake.
"Coming!" he wheezed at the door. He flicked his wrist and I flew backwards. The air pressed in on me and it swung me under the bed. Tears still dripping down my face and the air pressing in on me, gagging me and not allowing me to sob, I saw Jasper coast over to the door, and watched it swing open.
