Melina's Point of View

I saw Iris and John fighting. He ripped her arm off and the blood sprayed everywhere. Tears rolled down my face and I could not stop him from hurting her, my best friend, my Luna.

"Shut up." The words were whispered in my ear and I looked into the face of Jasmine. I spat in it and she backhanded me, knocking me out cold.

I woke up and it was dark outside. My face ached and I could feel the bruise forming. Jasmine may look small and waifish but dang she was STRONG. I touched my face and felt the soft skin of my face. The slight pressure of my fingers brushing along the bruise was enough to make me cry out. I was beaten up and scared. Jasmine and John had kidnapped me and had held me captive for days, torturing me and trying to force me to help them kill Iris. Iris. Where was she? Was she okay? I had to find her. I rolled over and pushed off of the ground with my hands until I was on my knees. My muscles ached and I wanted to just fall down and sleep forever. I shook my head, no I needed to find Iris. I pushed myself onto my wobbly legs and attempted to take a step. Iris was probably in the pack house, so I needed to get back there. I took another step and then another, each step made my head lighter and lighter. My vision lost focus and my head started to pound. I leaned against a tree and took a few deep breaths. I felt as if I were going to pass out and sleep forever. I begrudgingly gave up my position at the tree and took a few steps forward. My bare feet stepped in something sticky and squishy and I yelped slightly at the coldness of it. Convincing myself that it was probably just tree sap and I shouldn't worry I took another step forward and my foot caught on a lo and I fell to the ground beside it. My torn pant leg was caught on it and I turned to put it from its captivation in the log.  When I turned my world exploded in a symphony of terror and screams mixing in the air with sorrow and the stench of death. When I turned a ray of moonlight suddenly hit the log and I realized that that was no log. It was Iris. She was dead and it was her blood I had stepped in. A wretched demon of sorrow clawed its way from my heart and mixed with my tears. Screams filled the night air and even I could not recognize them. They spoke of loss and love and terror. My best friend was dead. I cried and rain began to fall. It wiped away all traces of blood from the ground and masked my screams. Screams of loss. Screams of fear. Screams of pain.
