I crashed through branches as I attempted to walk straight. My back was deeply slashed and I had a bullet wound in my shoulder. The blood dripping from the wounds intermingled with my burgundy fur, giving me a strange appearance as though I were melting. I lay down next to a stream and gulped some water into my dehydrated system. It had started to rain and in the coolness of the night the cold water felt good as it dripped over my wounds. Though they were starting to heal I was still in dire shape. If I didn't heal soon, I would die, and as this prospect loomed over me I came to realize that I was fine with dying. My wolf wasn't though, she continuously told me to get up. She acted like we had something to live for.
'Get up, just a few more steps. You can lie down in a little bit. Just a little farther.' She chanted in my ear. I did as she said and caught a whiff of chocolate I the air, I loved chocolate but it wasn't just chocolate. It smelled like fresh air, grass, chocolate, and something that I couldn't place all rolled into one.
'Go towards it's she urged in my ear. I plodded over to where I could smell it stronger. Forcing myself to take another step, to drag in another ragged breath. I heard what sounded like footsteps over to my left and let a growl escape my lips. I heard a growl in return and turned my head and saw a black wolf with blue eyes staring back at me, as green bored into blue I felt myself relax. I had no idea why I did but as I relaxed my muscles I lost my grip on myself and fell into blackness.
"What's wrong with her Luke?" A masculine voice asked.
"I don't know, but I am going to take her back to my room in the pack house. She is to stay with me. I want one of you two to get the pack doctor Amber and inform her that my mate will be in my room." There were gasps at the word 'mate'. I didn't know who he was talking about or even who he was. All I know is that I was trapped in this darkness and I could hear I just couldn't speak or move. I knew I had shifted back to my human body, though I knew I should be embarrassed I wasn't. I couldn't even locate the parts of my body to move if I wanted to.
"Look away!" The voice named Luke boomed. "No one is to see my mate naked but me." He added in a deep menacing voice. There he went with that word mate again. I didn't understand him, I knew he was talking about me but I was not supposed to be a mate. I was told I was not worthy. I was vaguely aware of the sound of rustling fabric and i knew he had placed his shirt over me. I knew it was still raining but I couldn't feel it on my face. As a matter of fact I couldn't feel anything until a warm pair of arms picked my human body up and placed me on his smooth bare chest. He radiated warmth and I felt a sense of safety sweep over me. I felt my body relax and the darkness took over full force.
