Its been three months since I first moved here and life here seems so natural as if I had been here my whole life. I have grown stronger and my health is now up to optimum levels. I feel great physically but mentally my mind has been a death trap. Luke and I still have not mated and I worry that he is cheating, or worse that he doesn't want me. He refuses and says that he is waiting for the 'right time' and though we sleep in the same bed I feel farther apart from him than ever. Not only is Luke acting strange so are the rest of the girls. They stop talking when I walk into the room and I know that they were just talking about me. My powers have yet to show and Melina says that her and the rest of the girls are just worried about me. Bhavya, who I have become close with says that my powers will come in due time, when I need them the most. Bhavya informed me that she would be my Mentor on the road to gaining and honing my gifts. Its hard not to be jealous of the other girls; Ginger bursts into a glorious flame and manages to change back somewhat easily now, Melina makes it rain and has erupted natural geysers all over the forest, and Alice commands the wind with such a grace that she has already learned to use her Air to fly. I cant even produce a spark or even cause a leaf to fall. I sob all the time and Bhavya says that I must be patient though I feel dejected that I have no power. I am doubting that I even am the Earth Holder at all. I hate feeling like this and my wolf has stopped speaking to me, making me feel even more alone. I have been curled up under this tree for hours now and my eyes are bloodshot and my face is tear streaked and itchy. I lean back against the tree that I have my back to and look up into its branches.
"Its all your fault you know that right?" I yelled at the treetop. The leaves sat there mocking me in all of their Earth magic and I beared none.
"Talking to inanimate objects are we? That's the first sign of insanity." A voice floated over to me and I turned my head and crouched into a defensive position though my wolf had abandoned me and I had no powers but I would be damned if I would go down without a fight. I was feisty as hell and sad, let them try me. I growled at the voice and out stepped Melina. She gave me a smile and walked up to me, I straightened out of my crouch and welcomed her.
"You knew I was insane since you met me." I laughed and so did she. It felt good to laugh, I hadn't laughed in a long time, or had human contact for a few days.
"That I did." She replied.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked her and she looked at me as if I were alien.
"I was going to ask you the same thing." She said gesturing around us at the forest. I nodded at her, I Was out in the middle of the forest. I had been in the forest for days on end, when was the last time I had eaten? I don't remember.
"True true, hey do you want to go get something to eat? I havent eaten in the longest time." I asked her and she shook her head.
"Why don't we go for a walk?" Melina asks. What? Why would she ask to go on a random walk? She made no sense. I shook my head.
"I should really eat Melina. Sorry." I say trying to brush past her and go to the pack house for something to eat. She grabbed my arm and refused to let me pass her. I looked at her in disbelief, wondering why she was acting so weird. I let out a warning growl, I may not be able to shift but dammit I am still her Luna and will be treated as such. She smiled at my growl and let me go.
"Come on, just a short walk? I need to talk to you about something." Melina pleaded. She had a crazy look about her, she didnt look like herself. I nodded and walked with her, I needed to humor this crazy version of my sweet Melina.
"Fine, whats wrong?" I asked her. She looked at me and shook her head.
"Its....um..... my mate." She said, seeming to not know what to say or how to phrase it.
"Daniel?" I asked and she nodded looking distracted.
"Yeah, I caught him.... umm.... cheating on me." She said steadily. I looked at her in surprise. How could Daniel do such a thing? I couldn't believe it of him. Why would he? Melina's such a great girl, even if she is a bit frazzled. Well who wouldn't be when they saw their mate with someone else? She looked totally distracted.
"How did you find out?" I asked and she turned to me with a puzzled expression as if I had just pulled her out of a mental reverie.
"Find what out?" She asked. I shook my head, she really was in bad shape.
"How did you find out that Daniel was cheating on you?" I asked, a feeling in my stomach beginning to spread throughout my body. Something felt off and my senses were trying to warn me. I sniffed the air and Melina didn't even smell like herself. But the smell was familiar, though I could not pin point where I had smelled it before. Melina took my hand and jerked me forward as though I were a rag doll.
"Come on, just a little further." She said completely ignoring my question.
"A little further? Where are we going." I said a little panic arose in my voice. Where was she taking me?
'Something isnt right. Get out of there!' My wolf screamed at me speaking to me for the first time in a long while. I tried to phase but it still did not work.
'You cant phase. You denying your powers is squelching my ability to help you.' My wolf said and I took a panicked look at Melina who broke into a run ignoring my struggles. I pulled against her and she tightened her hold on me.
"Let me go!" I yelled at her and she slapped me across the face and pulled me into a clearing before throwing me upon the ground. I hit the ground and let out a cry before facing my attacker.
"Why are you doing this to me Melina?!" I spat at her. Melina let out a wicked smile and my eyes widened as she transformed into my evil, torturous, wretched brother John.
"I'm not Melina. Hello my dear sister." John whispered and finally I put my finger on the smell. It was the smell of pure evil, of Demon.
