Y/N POV

I've known Magnus for centuries. His face is forever I graced in my mind. His jet black hair, his green cat eyes, his tall figure, everything.

But even after all these centuries, I still cannot admit my feelings. With every year that passes, I become more desperate, but just cannot take the chance of being turned down.

Years ago, Magnus had moved away and I had decided to stay in my home in France. Now, moving to New York, I decided to see who is the warlock of Brooklyn. Curiosity has always been my weakness.

After many messages, I find the address and make my way to the buzzer. Pressing the buzzer, I hear a familiar voice, but can't put a finger to it. "Go away," the voice says.

I scowl at the rudeness of the voice. "Hello, my name is Y/N L/N, and I am looking for the High Warlock of Brooklyn. I am new to town and wish to meet possible allies."

The buzzer was rung without another word and I made my way up to the apartment. I kept my back straight and my head high.

Walking to the door, I knocked twice and watched as the apartment door open, expecting to see some crazily bizarre looking warlock. Maybe some kind of tinted skin, a tail or two, or even some kind of horns, such as myself. Instead I was hit hard with fierce cat eyes and the breath was sucked from my lungs.

"Magnus?" His eyes lit up as a smirk settled on his face. He was the one person I wasn't prepared to see again. "Hello, Y/N." He stepped to the side and I walked inside. The apartments was nice but my mind was ultimately trying to get over the fact that I was once again pulled into the vicious one-sided love I was apart of more than 30 years ago.

But the room was not empty. Say on the couch was a dark haired boy, black marks crawling up his arms and neck. Shadowhunter. The way the boy sat told me he was more than just a guest and  I felt jealousy squeeze my chest.

"Y/N, meet my boyfriend, Alec. Alec, this is my good friend, Y/N." I was more than familiar with the name as he and his friends had become very popular in the news. The boy's eyes wondered my face and quickly looked at the rest of me before settling back at my face. He smiled and stood from the couch.

"Well it's good to meet you, Alexander Lightwood." My voice was colder than I meant for it to be and I could tell the boy was shocked by his sudden shock. "How did you-"

"You are not a regular shadowhunter, Alec. You are very popular these days," I say as I smile gently. I could feel Magnus' eyes on me, the chilling look sending shivers down my spine.

Alec shifted from one foot to the other. "Well I actually need to get going. I'm meeting Clary and Jace at the Institute in an hour. Bye Magnus and it was a pleasure of meeting you, Y/N." I smiled gently and nodded my head. "It was a pleasure meeting you as well, Alec."

Alec left the apartment. Magnus stood beside the kitchen table. "So, how have you been, Y/N? I thought you were happy in France?" I smiled and took a seat at the table, smiling wider when a cat jumped up in my lap and purred.

"France is a beautiful country and it holds a very important spot in my heart, but I felt as if I needed to explore. I wanted to travel, explore the world." I petted the cat softly, not taking my eyes off Magnus.

"I understand. That is why I had moved here in the first place." His cat eyes stared at me intently and I felt goosebumps rise on my skin. I could see my deer-like horns that sat on the top of my head in the reflecting of the mirror behind Magnus.

The cat scurried away and I crossed my legs under the table, my F/C dress flowing down over my knee and stopping just under it. "So, Alec Lightwood, huh? Since when do you date Shadowhunters? Or does he look so much like Will, you just couldn't help yourself?" Instead of of anger, I was sent laughter as Magnus' head flew back and his chest shook with the vibrations. It made me smile to know that I was one of the only one could make jokes as such and still be able to make him laugh like that.

"No. Alec is just... different somehow. He makes me feel much different than Will did. Will was curiosity. Alec is... like a first." His eyes locked with mine and I could see the love and compassion in them as he spoke of the little shadowhunter and I knew that my time with him would never arrive.

This one little shadowhunter made Magnus a different person. Magnus didn't look like a young face with hundreds of years of wisdom behind them, but like a teenager in love for the first time.

The evening past quickly. Discussion moved fluently between us and before I knew it, the clock hands spoke 1 and I knew my time was up. If was time for me to leave.

"I guess I should be going then," I said standing up. Magnus smiled gently. "Yes I suppose so." I hugged the warlock tightly before making my way to the door. "Y/N-" I turned to see Magnus staring at me almost sadly. "I know why you didn't chase after me all those years ago and I understand. I am sorry I've never returned those feelings and I am sorry I do not today, but you are always welcome here and in my household. And maybe one day I shall love you as you love me."

I felt shocked and broken all at once. Tears stung my eyes but I kept them in. "Thank you, Magnus. I look forward to that day," I say before opening the door and walking away from my past. A past I was finally released from.
