What if there was an EF5 tornado headed straight for your house right now?
What if, after seeing the question mark at the end of this sentence, you only had 30 seconds to get to shelter because there wasn't a warning? Would you know where to go? What would you do? What would you take with you, if anything? Are there other people in your house who might not understand or wake up in time to make it?
What if it was twelve hours from now and you still only had 30 seconds to get to shelter?
What would you do if you had exactly one minute? Would you take prized possessions or beloved pets with you? Would you and everyone else make it to shelter in time, or would they be too dazed? Are there people in your household who couldn't move that quickly even if they wanted to? Would you be justified in leaving them behind?
What if you had exactly five minutes? Would you and everyone else make it to shelter, or would someone be too wrapped up in saving their worldly possessions to save their own life?
What if you had somewhere between one and ten minutes, but you weren't sure how long? What would you do? If you had more time than you thought, would you regret your actions? If you had less time than you thought, would you live to regret it?
What if you had exactly 24 hours to evacuate before a deadly hurricane hits your home, and you know that it will destroy everything that you have ever known and loved if you leave it behind? What would you take? Where would you go? How would it feel to only have what you crammed in your backpack?
How would it feel to only have what you're holding in your hands?
