What if all world religions are test groups in an elaborate alien experiment started thousands of years ago?
What if atheists are the control group?
Assuming that the tenets of the religions were planned in detail and intentionally indoctrinated into the original followers by a paid actor playing a charismatic leader, would this point to at least the original leaders of the religion being aliens? Does this help to explain some of the events in the texts?
Are the original groups even recognizable today because of changes in beliefs, rituals, ceremonial garb, and texts?
Why would they run an experiment like this? What would they be trying to find? Are they studying the intelligence of humans? Are they studying the mental stability and morality of humans? What does history tell us their findings will be?
Given these findings, do you think they would make contact with us or would they neutralize us as a potential threat to them in the distant future?
What would be necessary to break the one-way mirror and let followers see the being behind the curtain? Would it require the scientists to step in and read the lengthy debriefing statement approved by the ethics board in order to end the illusion? Would even that end the illusion, or would the denial be too ingrained? Is it inevitable that science will eliminate the "God in the gaps" argument* and atheism will become universal? How much longer do you think this experiment will last?
Is this page part of the experiment?

* The "God in the gaps" argument is the tendency of theists to assign a supreme being's interference to areas of science and lived experience that cannot be sufficiently explained away by science and medicine. However, as more breakthroughs are made, this leads to an increasingly small gap for these supreme beings to exist in. This often leads to the denigration of atheists and the banning of science in schools and public forums unless it serves the hypocrites' personal well-being (i.e. clean drinking water, advanced medical care, modern technology).
