That little tiny sentence dropped like a flash grenade. My friends started arguing that it couldn't be true, that the copy of me was lying. The other me just grinned.

Sadie drew her wand and staff then spit at the other me, "You're a bloody liar! That's not true!"

He folded his hands with a smile, "Is it really, Sadie? Could it be true? Peter, the name of Jake's father, was very handsome, and very brave. Once, before Jake was born, a group of the followers of Bast were attacked by demons. Peter, being the hero he was, saved her followers and her temple. As a...reward of sorts, Bast did what only one god has ever done with a mortal in the last three or four ages: She fell in love. Before you say I'm crazy, the same can be said for the god of death, Anubis."

Sadie's face whitened but Walt stepped up beside her and said, "That's different."

"Oh is it?" the copy said, "Because much like you, Mr. Stone, Bast fell in love with her, ah, 'savior.' And so, going against the will of the gods, she conceived a child with Peter. His wife, Marissa Lloyd, wasn't angry, but ecstatic. She knew the child would be powerful. So, she took him in as his mother for Bast. Bast gifted her for this kindness with a blessing that the boy would be the host of Bast at the age of 14. And so, standing in front of us now, we have Jake Lloyd, the host of Bastet. So what, Mr. Lloyd, are you going to do now?"

Nobody saw it coming. I didn't even see it coming. The other Jake didn't see it coming. But, before I knew it, I had him pinned to the wall with my gun at his forehead and my machete at his neck. I saw fear in his eyes for the first time.

"Lorem ipsum super canem," I growled then shot a bullet in his forehead and beheaded him with my machete.

We stood there for a moment and the door opened on the other side of the room. I was still reeling from the information he'd given me when Sadie, being the big sister she is, came over and hugged me. Surprisingly, I buried my face on her shoulder and Christina came up and hugged me as well.

"Are we doing a group hug?" Carter asked, looking awkward.

"Shut up, Carter," Sadie murmured as I let go of her.

I gestured towards the door with my machete, "Lets go kill Kamehea to death."

Carter was about to make a comment to probably tell me that was wrong but Christina, not Sadie, shot him a glare and continued on through the door.

It was the same old narrow hallway but the door didn't open up to another room with what someone feared, it opened up to a royal Egyptian looking room with hieroglyphs on the furniture and sandstone walls. At a long table sat three men: Set, Kamehea, and a shorter man with an almost Elvis Presley look who waved at Zia and Carter.

Zia growled, "Setne, you worm!"

Setne rolled his eyes then twirled his fingers. Ribbons of Hathor appeared from nowhere and wrapped around each of us, making us pink mummies.

"Zia and Carter, it's so funny because, I feel like we've been in this situation before!" Setne laughed as he walked around us in a circle. When he looked down at me, he whistled loudly, "Wow. Just wow. Kamehea, you've really outdone yourself. Are the stories about the, ah, 'Child of Bast' true? I've heard the legends..."

Set laughed, the jewels in his cornrows shaking, "The biggest problem since Apophis! I hear that his eyes glowed like the eyes of Bast in the myths. But, hard to see, in that little trouble making runt."

"Hmm..." Kamehea mused, studying me, "We could drain his blood and sell it. Make a new breed of chaos magicians from his blood and my daughters DNA. Cutting up his body parts and scattering them like Osiris."

Setne laughed but said, "Peace, Kamehea. Your plan will take more then killing everyone you see. We will need more time, anyways."

"So what do you propose?" Kamehea asked Set, taking a sip from his wine glass.

"Well, more than anything they seemed to be accustomed to each other," Set sighed, "It would be a shame if something were to...split the group in half, no?"

All three men/god/ghosts laughed as two Keheran magicians opened up portals on two Egyptian statues. The six of us tried to get closer to each other but I saw it was no use. Me, Walt, and Sadie were thrown through one while Christina, Carter, and Zia were thrown through the other. The bonds dispelled and I reached out for Christina one last time before we were thrown into the portal to nowhere.

I groaned and opened my eyes. When I looked up, I only saw blue skies and a sun. I was lying in some field somewhere with Sadie and Walt at my side.

"You guys alright?" Walt groaned as he sat up and looked around, "Where are we?"

We all sat up and looked around. There was a highway a small ways away from us. A few cars sped down the road and a sign near us. Behind us, there was a farm with horses prancing around in a field.

"Okay, got to ask," Sadie stood shakily, "Where in the bloody duat are we?"

I lead our little trio over to the highway and looked at the sign. There was an orange and fancy writing written on the bottom.

"That says 'Florida,'" Walt said, "We're in Florida."

"Oh gods," I sighed, "We're screwed."

Sadie looked around then asked, "How are we going to get anywhere?"

I looked over at the horses then pointed at them, "Maybe we could, uh, borrow those bad boys."

"That's a bad idea," Walt added.

"Yes," Sadie said, then ran off to the pasture.

"I like your girlfriend's mind," I chuckled, "She's smart."
