[Alright, Jake, hand over the mic nice and slow and nobody gets hurt. There you go, nice and easy. Easy, easy! Okay, nice job.]

So, as you can imagine, Jake was like General Washington for straight on three minutes and then once he finished his speech he was gone. I looked at Sadie as Carter addressed them afterwards and she had a look on her face that told me we both were confused that a skinny teenage boy had just given a speech to a bunch of other kids not unlike the president would speak to soldiers. Mind blown.

"Where'd Jake go?" Sadie whispered as we edged away from the crowd of initiates, "I saw him leave and then he just vanished or something."

"No, no, he wouldn't just leave," I said even though I didn't really know if that was the truth.

"Psst, Christina!" A voice whispered from a door on the side of the Great Hall, "Sadie! Tina!"

Sadie and I followed the noise to a door where a familiar head was poking out.

"Mia?" I whispered, "When did you get here? Do you know where Jake is?"

"Wow," Mia said with her regular sarcasm, "All the advice I give you and not even a 'hello.'"

I blushed. Mia and I had become...well, friends, really. We often talked over the phone about a very conflicting topic: Lloyds. She gave me advice with Jake and I told her what Jake had told me about Sam to help her. And, got to admit, some of it was helpful. I learned from her lots of things he never told me.

"Anyways," Mia said waving her hand, "he's in here, c'mon."

Me and Sadie followed her into the room and I heard Sadie give a low whistle. The room was like a hidden war room: maps with marks on them hung on the walls and on a table in the middle of the room and weapons, Egyptian or not [meaning guns or swords,] hung on the walls as well. Around the table in the center stood Dean, Sam, and Jake; each of them decked out in weapons and cotton clothes.

"...chaos levels would go through the roof, they'd have enough bravery and strength to attack the Nome," Dean said in his low, commander voice. It seemed that both of Jake's siblings had voices that were low and strong. I noticed it mostly in Jake though.

"Christina," Jake said, breaking up the conversation, "Glad you could make it."

I looked at him. He'd changed since I first met him: his eyes were brighter and he'd seemed to have grown more muscular from combat training. Looking at him then was like looking at a teenage angel. "Yeah," I said finally, "Sadie and I went looking for you after your little speech."

"Oh, yeah," he said and I could've sworn he had blushed a little, "Yeah I didn't really think about that much."

"Alright, you two," Sam said exasperatedly, "You can flirt later and if you're really into it there's a few empty rooms at our house."

My face went beet red and Jake gave Sam a 'you lil' shit' look. Dean slammed a fist down on the table and we all snapped out of it.

"Listen, guys," He said angrily, "As much as I would love to sit around and talk we've got a serious problem that stinks of Chaos magic. We aren't the only Nome that lost people today. Nomes all over North America in most of the states like Washington, New Mexico, Texas, and every other Nome in this gods forsaken country!"

"Wait," Sadie raised a hand, "Just America or-"

"Britain, Russia, you name it," Mia added waving a hand at the map, "And killings are just the beginning."

"Last night, the pyramids of Egypt were giving off 'faint lights and bright bursts' as reported by the news and the Washington Monument was 'temporarily glowing brightly.' Coincidence?" Jake cut in as well, "Strange shit is going down worldwide."

I always thought Jake had a certain look on him when he was angry. It was always handsome and serious. But at that moment, something else invaded his expression: a look of concern and worry and confusion. I didn't like it at all so I moved around the table and stood beside him.

"You've never fought anything like this before," I gathered from their expressions, "You're all confused and worried. Don't be," I placed my hand on top of Jake's and I felt all the tension go out of it, "Because, like it or not, we've got friends. And I know that we aren't alone in this."

They stared at me for a minute and I thought 'swing and a miss' but then Dean grabbed my face and kissed me on the forehead. It was like...getting your brain temporarily plugged into a machine and having every bit of logic sucked out of it. Runs in his family, I guess.

"You're in," Sam breathed, "Dean approves of your plan."

"Well, he approves that you are in a mutual relationship with his younger brother and that you treat him correctly," Mia added.

"Shut up," Jake said even though I felt his hand shift and clasp mine. And in that moment, I thought:

'What could go wrong?'
