Shea stumbles into her house and sees her mom hovering over the kitchen stove. Making grilled cheese sandwiches Shea's favorite, "I'm off work tonight so it'll just be the two of us." Shea's Mom sits a grilled cheese sandwich on the counter with soup next to it. Shea pulls up a stool, and sits on it facing her mom knowing something was up because the last time her mom made her favorite food both of her parents told her they were moving for the third time that year, "When can I see dad again?" Shea's mom stands there while sipping her soup, "You're dad, and I decided that you probably shouldn't see him too much. He thinks it's taking a toll on your well being, and grades he's gotten worse over the last week." Her mother explains as she places her hand over Shea's forearm, "But, he's my dad." Shea looked at her mother with hurt eyes, "It's what he wants for now. At least for awhile till they figure out the next step during his treatments." Shea's mother tries to give Shea a good explanation, but all Shea could hear was ringing in her ears, and the fact that she can't see her dying father, "I know he's refusing treatment mom." Shea's mom tilts her head to the side, "Why would you say that?" Shea scoffs as she feels her stomach turn, "You saw the way he looked the last time he went through chemo. I'm not stupid." Shea bites the inside of her cheek as anger pulses through her veins, "You should eat your dinner. We'll talk about this tomorrow." Shea's mother said with a stern voice. Shea looks down at the now unappetizing food then looks at her mom, "Suddenly I'm not so hungry anymore." Shea stands up from the stool she was currently sitting on, and stomps up the stairs to her room without looking back. Deciding she no longer likes grilled cheese.
The next morning Shea woke up in a daze not wanting to get up or do anything. Not even the thought of spending the night with Sasha like she usually does almost every weekend gets her out of bed. Shea stares up at the ceiling as she hears her alarm go off in her ear before slamming the snooze button once again. The pain in her chest gets worse when she sits up wondering how her dad is doing or whether he's getting the things he needs.
She walks down stairs after getting dressed deciding on some sweats, and a baggy sweatshirt due to the cold morning weather, and her absent mind. She looks in the mirror at the bags under her eyes with remorse wondering who was staring back at her. Once she combs her hair out Shea pulls it up into a bun before slipping on a pair of converses then she's out the door with her bag around her shoulder.
Remembering where her school was located she missed the bus, and briskly walks in the direction as she wracks through her mind what turns to take. On top of everything else she had to miss the bus.
Shea walks into school ignoring everyone around her. Her head down while thinking about her dad, and the fact that he didn't want to see her anymore. Are her emotions just getting the best of her? Is she over thinking things like always? Or is he just sick of seeing his emotional daughter blubber over the fact that he won't be around anymore? Shea's eyes grow darker as she opens her locker not being capable of hearing anything around her, but the negative thoughts running through her mind.
Everything goes black.
Next thing she knew she was in the nurses office having her temperature, and blood sugar taken, "When was the last time you've eaten because your blood sugar is to the floor."
Shea just shrugs as the nurse takes her blood pressure with suspicion, "I tried calling your parents neither have picked up."
Shea chuckles under her breath, "There's no use in that." She shakes her head.
The nurse has Shea eat some saltine crackers before leaving her office. Even though she wanted Shea to visit the counselor she refused, and was on her way.
She walks into Sasha's class room, and is immediately met with arms wrapping around her, "Are you alright? Katya told me what happened. You passed out and one of the teachers had to carry you to the nurses office. Is everything ok?" Sasha asks Shea questions at ninety miles an hour. Shea just looks down with embarrassment wondering what had happened, "Low blood sugar I guess." Shea mumbles under her breath as she walks into Sasha's classroom so they're no longer right by the door, "When was the last time you've eaten?" Sasha asks with concerned eyes.
Shea looks up at Sasha. Every racing thought in her cloudy mind comes to a stop once their eyes meet, and for a second she feels happy. She feels something. Sasha's lips are crashed into by Shea's as shes backed into the supply closet by Shea. Sasha breaks the kiss, and looks at Shea with confusion then is instantly shushed by Shea's lips once again before she could ask anything else, "I wanna feel something... I wanna feel you." Shea whines before biting Sasha's neck, "Can't this wait till tonight?" Sasha groans as Shea feels every part of her body, "No, now."
