Izuku's POV

"A letter came today from the kid you saved," My mother smiled at me from across the table. She handed me an envelope with my hero name "Deku" addressed on it.

I ripped open the the envelope and pulled out the paper inside. I squinted to read the messy handwriting.

Thank you for being a hero I could count on, Deku. You're amazing. I'm rooting for you.

Sincerely,
Kouta

I smirked at the letter, and put it back inside the envelope.

"What'd it say?" My mom said to me as she ate her breakfast. "I didn't want to be nosy and read it."

"It said thank you," I responded.

She nodded. "Well, you should hurry up and finish your food. We should start making our way to All Might's funeral."

Those words hit me hard. I had never wanted to hear them in the same sentence.

"Mom," I started.

"Yes?" She asked as she got up from her seat.

I bit my lip. I didn't know if I should tell her.

"Never mind," I sighed as I stood up.

***

The sky was cloudy and the world felt gloomy that day. I was stood next to my mom in the crowd of civilians wearing all black. Whispers carried across the crowd.

I thought the number one hero was supposed to save us? I heard.

Can't believe he died. I didn't think All Might was this weak. Said another.

"One big punch and he was dead. Man, that guy didn't age well," spoke the tall man next to me.

"He doesn't even look like All Might! Did you see the guy in the coffin!" The person laughed.

I clenched my fists. Ungrateful citizens like the guy next to me. They didn't understand what it was like to be a hero. The pressure to do the right thing. The pressure to save everyone.

"I'll bet I could've beaten that All for One with one arm. Hell, and my quirk is making peanut butter jars float," the guy next to me continued. He was making All Might sound like a joke.

"All Might was a better man than you'll ever be," I mumbled.

"Hey, what'd you say," The guy said. He looked down at me.

"All Might was a better man than you'll ever be," I glared up at him.

"Aw, man," he said, "An All Might super fan. I'm sorry kid."

I gritted my teeth. This man was mocking me. This man was mocking All Might.

"Wait, don't you go to Yuuei?" The guy asked. "Man, I think I recognize you from that sports festival."

I smiled falsely.

"Aw, can't believe you had to have a fake like All Might as your teacher," the man laughed.

He hit a nerve. I felt one for all pulse through my body. Power was flowing through my fingertips. I didn't even try to summon the power. My emotions caused one for all to awaken. It was taking so much restraint not to hit him.

"Why did they let him teach at Yuuei anyway--," the man started.

My fist hit him square in the jaw. I felt his bones crack beneath my fingers. The punch reverberated through my whole body. I had hit him. Hard.

The man fell to the ground unconscious. Blood seeped out of his nose. I cradled my arm. It was still healing from when I had saved Kouta, and I wasn't supposed to fight with it. My arm was throbbing with pain. I had made a big mistake.

People surrounded the man, and looked back at me like I was some villain. I backed up against my mom.

"Izuku!" She said startled. She turned to survey the scene. "What did you do!"

"He was--," I was panicking. "I didn't mean to-- he antagonized--"

"Hey, doesn't that kid go to Yuuei?" I had heard a voice say through the crowd.

I gripped onto my mom's arm.

"Why would a hero in training punch a civilian?" A voice questioned.

"This man needs a doctor immediately! I think his skull is fractured!" A concerned mom's voice spoke through the ruckus.

The funeral was put on pause while worried people surrounded the man. Fingers and whispers were pointed my way. I didn't like how everyone was blaming me. I should've talked with the man more. I should've tried to reason, but my emotions took over.

Midnight followed by Mr. Aizawa made their ways through the crowd towards the commotion. I tried hiding behind my mom. I wanted to leave. I wanted it to be over.

Midnight helped calm the crowd down and get the man up. I watched from afar as Mr. Aizawa talked to a witness. The two conversed before the witness pointed towards me. My teacher walked to me in disbelief.

"That person over their said that you punched this man?" Mr. Aizawa asked. "Is that true, Izuku?"

I looked down at my arm. I nodded slowly.

"Izuku, the man is unconscious. With your quirk you can't just go around punching people," Mr. Aizawa sighed. "What would All Might think of this?"

I tensed. He mentioned All Might.

"We will talk about what to do with you later," he said. "Please stay here."

My teacher walked away, and I watched as the injured man was put on a stretcher. More Yuuei students and civilians came over to see what was happening. Many had looks of horror when they saw the guy.

I couldn't believe I had lost control. I couldn't believe I ruined All Might's funeral. Everything All Might stood for was gone. All of the attention was put on me, and I didn't want it.

I felt tears sting my eyes. I tried quickly wiping them away. I turned away from the scene and ran. I pushed past people. I wanted to leave. I needed to leave. At that moment I didn't care if I was going to be in more trouble.
