(short chapter, but more to come!)

Izuku's POV

I was laid back on my bed. My eyes wandered the patterns on my ceiling. I heard the voices of police officers questioning my mother through my door. I didn't know why they had to speak to her when I was the one who ran from the scene.

They had found me a couple of blocks away from the funeral crying in an alley. They cuffed me and brought me back to my mom. She was very disappointed. I looked around her and the faces of every mourner there had stared back at me. I had become the new subject of All-Might's funeral. I was mad at myself, but more mad that once again everyone ignored All-Might's needs, even in his death.

The low voices outside my door had stopped. I heard a light knock on my door. My mother entered. I sat up and looked at her. She looked defeated.

She sat down on the bed next to me.

"Izuku," She sighed. "The police have let you off with a warning, but they gave you a mark on your criminal record. The man you um-- punched decided not to sue. Which is good news."

She turned to me with tears streaming down her face. She grabbed my bandaged hand.

"Izuku, it pains me to know you now have a criminal record. I know this was an accident, but that man's face was seriously.. messed up," She sniffled. "I need you to control your temper and not let anything like this happen again. I know how much All-Might meant to you, and he wouldn't have liked this either!"

She looked down at me with a miserable expression I've only seen once before.

"I don't want you to go down that path. I don't want to lose the only person I have left," she hugged me tightly. Her tears dampened my shirt. I hesitated before I wrapped my arms back around her.

"I won't let this happen again, mom," I said into her dark green hair. I felt tears sting my eyes as well.

We stayed like that for a minute until we had finally let each other go. She nodded, and walked to my door. She exited quietly. I could still hear muffled sobs through the door.

I looked down at my hands.

I had hurt someone today, and that is bad.

I did something a hero should never do purposely.

I did it for All-Might.

I didn't feel guilty.
