Conflicted | Harvey Mills

Tommorow became today and as I entered my form room, I immediately spotted Max who was sitting in his usual seat by the windows. It was quite early to be in school at this time, meaning less people around and no Harvey Mills.

"Max!" I nudged Max, before sliding into the seat next to him.

"W-what?" Max looked up from his reading book, startled, and even more when he realised it was me.

"I need to ask you a favour".

"What kind of favour?" Max asked slowly, closing his book.

"I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend".

"Boyfriend?! What? Why?!"

"I've already told Kelly about this so you don't need to worry about her", I said, ignoring his question.

"Okay... But why do you want me to be your pretend 'boyfriend'?"

"To make Harvey jealous", I finally blurted out

Max groaned. "Lily!"

"Please Max! You owe me anyways don't you?"

"But what would other people think of me when they find out I'm dating my brother's Ex? That wouldn't look good on me".

"Please Max. Harvey's been a complete dick to me lately and I just want to get back at him", I pouted.

"I just- I- I know he has but..." He trailed off.

Even Max knew how Harvey was treating me.

"Even you know Max! And remember: you owe me".

"Fine! I agree. I'll be your pretend 'boyfriend' or whatever".

"Great!" I side-hugged him.
As I do, I see Harvey saunter in through the door and I turned my hug into a peck on the cheek. Max's cheeks flamed red and so did mine.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Harvey eyeing us, and then narrowing his eyes on our now interwined hands.

"Ahem", someone awkwardly coughed.

I turned around to meet Harvey.

"Yes Harvey?" I asked sweetly.

"Why are you- er", He pointed to our hands.

"What? It's not against the law to hold hands is it? Because I've seen you do that with a lot of girls", I said in an even more sweeter tone.

He glared at me and opened his mouth to speak but Max cut him off.
"I don't know how to say this Harvey, but, we're going out".

Harvey's jaw dropped to the floor.

"What the f- what- I- what?! But you're dating Kelly, Max, remember?"

"I dumped her", he shrugged carelessly.

Harvey looked even more confused.

"You probably begged Max to go out with you didn't you Lily?" Harvey demanded.

Max cut in before I could say something rude.  "Actually, I asked her out, not her".

"And I said 'yes' because I realised how much better Max was compared to the dickhead you are now, Harvey".

"We're going to have a little chat about this after school Max, okay?" Harvey said through gritted teeth before looking furiously between us and storming off.

I think this chapter turned out well... The next one will be pretty interesting
