"Since when have I cared?"

The words stung me like poison and my heart broke for the second time.

I let out a low, humourless laugh. "You've changed a lot Mills". And then I ran straight out the classroom. I began a fast paced walk down the corridor, my head swirling with thoughts and emotions, the words since when have I cared ringing through my head.

I pushed the door and went straight outside, only to find it had started raining. Great.

I took a seat on the bench with a bike shed over it and buried my head into my arms.

Had Harvey ever cared about me? Even if he had, he doesn't now. He's changed so much I don't even know who he is anymore.

I felt a hand touch my shoulder, it was Chloe.

"You okay?" She asked me, taking a seat next to me.

"I don't really know", I muttered truthfully.

"I know Harvey can be a real jerk sometimes but you're just gonna have to ignore him because you deserve so much better. He was just trying to make you jealous and it kind of went a bit wrong".

Harvey was trying to make me jealous?

"He was trying to make me jealous?"

"That's what he told me and that Max was trying to make me jealous but I think he was lying now that I think about it..."

"Oh".

If Harvey had really said that, then he must have known that I was trying to make him jealous- we were both trying to make each other jealous.

Game on Harvey, game on.

Chloe and I had both made it back to form in time for when our names had been called from the register. Harvey was no where to be seen.

The bell rang and we both parted our ways for first period, which was Maths.

Damn... This just isn't my day... Maybe Harvey won't be show up.

"Lily?" Mrs. Clove called out.

"Yes, Miss", I replied. The seat next to me was still empty.

"Harvey?" No answer, I sighed in relief.

"I'm here!" Harvey suddenly burst through the door. "Sorry I'm late Miss, I just had to take care of something. Nothing to worry about", he smiled.

Talk about good timing.

He sat down next to me while I silently cursed repeatedly under my breath.

This really isn't my day.

Harvey didn't say anything as he took out his pencil case and Maths book. He briefly glanced at me and for a second, opened his mouth to speak but thought better of it when he shut it close.

I wonder what he was going to say...

And just like our first lesson together, we didn't say anything, just ignored each other. But it was funny how he was ignoring me as well- wasn't it supposed to be the other way round?
I don't understand him like I used to, I don't know what goes on in his mind anymore.

A few months ago, I'd have never imagined that he would become like this, especially in such a small amount of time. But that's life for you- full of surprises.

"Still on your period?" Harvey muttered.

"Still on yours?" I snapped back.

"Grumpy as usual".

"Where were you?" I demanded

"Does it matter?" He rolled his eyes.

"Yes it does and I'd like to know".

"Lily, Harvey that's your first warning", Mrs. Clove scolded us. We payed no attention to her.

"Why do you care?"

"I don't".

" I was out riding my unicorn okay?"

"Harvey..."

"I was riding my chicken, I lied!"

"Harvey!"

"Both of you, detention!" Mrs. Clove shouted at us.

"This is your fault", I hissed.

"I wasn't the one being loud", he snapped.

"I hate you Harvey Mills".

So damn much.
