Harvey's POV

Lily wants to make me jealous? I'll play at her own game.

"Chloe! Come here I need to ask you something".

Chloe was one of the pretty girls, and from my experience of dating Lily, I knew she'd be more jealous than she already was of her.

"Yes, Harvey?" Chloe asked, walking towards me.

"Erm, I need you to be my pretend 'girlfriend' for a while".

"And why would I do that?" She cocked her head to the side.

"Because I'm asking you... Why else?"

"What's in it for me?" She placed a hand on her hip.

This girl... She really is confident isn't she... Something Lily never was.

"Don't you want to make Max jealous? I'll put in a good word for you if you agree", I winked.

That's a lie, I'm never going to do that.

"Why would I want to make Max jealous? Would he be jealous? Does he like me?!" Chloe squealed.

Chloe only likes Max because he's popular, she wants attention. And even if she didn't want attention, she would only like Max because she's finally noticed him after all this time.
Chloe doesn't deserve Max.

"Oh, um... Sure?"

"Yes, I knew it! But then... why is Max dating Lily Little?"

"Oh... He's- er- trying to make you jealous I think... And I'm trying to make Lily jealous... Bit confusing but yeah".

"Oh, okay. But it all works out- me and Max, you and Lily". She smiled.

"Right... Yeah, um... So do you wanna- 'cause Lily's coming right now".

Chloe didn't say anything- she just sat down on Lily's chair next to me as I hastily put my arm around her shoulders.

I was just about to get my phone out when I heard someone cough behind us.

"You're sitting in my seat Chloe", Lily said.

"Oh, sorry, I'll just sit here instead". Chloe moved to my other side and sat down.

"Where's Max?" Lily asked, turning towards me.

"He's off sick"

"Why are you here so early?"

"God, can I not be early without you interrogating me?" I snapped at her.

I saw Lily's eye involuntarily twitch. It was subtle and unnoticeable, but I knew she had flinched.

"What's going on between you and Chloe then?"

"What? Other than the fact that we're going out?"

"Going out with another girl? How many girlfriends have you had? Keep doing that and you'll make a name for yourself, Harvey".

"Since when do you care?"

"Since when did you stop caring?" She retorted.

"Since when have I cared?" But the moment the words slipped out of my mouth I knew I regretted it.

Lily shook her head and gave out a low, humourless laugh. "You've changed a lot Mills". And with that she ran out.

"Way to break her heart again Harvey", Chloe said in an ice cold voice. I almost forgot she was there.

But before I could even register what she had said, Chloe ran out after Lily.

Think before you speak Harvey. Think. Before. You. Speak.

"I'm an idiot aren't I?" I muttered to myself, burying my head in my hands.

But Lily knows that wasn't true right? I did care about her... And maybe I still do deep down... No, no I don't. I broke up with her, I don't care about her and she doesn't about me- there is nothing between us. What I said was a mistake, it came out wrong. But why do I feel so guilty and bad?

Not my best chapter but oh well
I was supposed to go ice skating yesterday but the rink was closed due to road work and now I'm sad :(
