Harvey's POV
"What the hell Max?! Dating my Ex?" I shouted at Max after we had come back from school.
"I can't help that I like her Harvey!" He shouted back, swinging his schoolbag to the floor.
"But you can't just jump from girl to girl! Who does that?"
"You do Harvey".
I kept quiet.
"Anyone but Lily, Max. And you of all people had to choose her", I continued on.
"You didn't care when Matt went out with Amanda, your other Ex", Max pointed out.
"Amanda never liked me anyway- she was just trying to make Matt jealous. And besides, Lily's different".
"Different how?" He asked in a challenging tone.
"Because she just is Max. Lily's off-limits, okay? You can't go out with her".
I don't know why I'm so angry, I don't even know who I'm angry at. Dating your brother's Ex, that's against the Bro-Code, but should I be this mad and bothered?
"She's a great girl you know Harvey... Breaking up with her- that was a stupid thing to do. You just lost one of the prettiest girls in our year..." Max said quietly.
Now he's just confusing me.
"What are you saying Max?" I asked tiredly.
"Nothing, nothing", he shook his head.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you. It was just a bit of a suprise that you dumped Kelly for Lily. Just please don't hold hands or kiss in front of me or anything like that, okay?"
"I won't and thanks bro", Max smiled.
"But this doesn't mean we're okay", I said coldly.
"Right, right", he said before leaving me alone with my train of thoughts.
I wasn't really okay with Max dating Lily, in fact, I was fuming. I can't believe Max of all people would go as low as to date my Ex. I might annoy him sometimes but he didn't have to go so far as to do that.
It did seem a bit fishy, Max suddenly breaking up with Kelly who, to me anyways, were head over heels in love with each other, and Max going out with Lily of all people.
I thought back to tutor time, when she called me a dickhead and how angry she had been, her and Max's embarrassment, how uncomfortable they looked sitting next to each other... The cogs in my brain began to work and it all started to make sense: Lily was trying to make me jealous- and it was working.
