Two in one day? LE GASP! So much inspiration...
Enjoy 😂
-----------
The car hits a bump, and my suitcase jolts behind me. The clashing sound alerts me to the fact that we are in a new place.
The the back wheels finish their trek up the bump, allowing the car to pull into the driveway.
I'm off to granny's house!
Oh, I'm just joking with you. This is my Aunt's house. I never new I had an Aunt, but apparently her name is Lisa. So ya, I have an Aunt Lisa.
I just hope she doesn't pull any "A Series of Unfortunate Events" shit on me.
The house seemed comfy enough. Although, my old house seemed nice, and the inside was hell.
It is a two story building, with a joint purpose. The first floor is a sweet smelling cafe or bakery, while the top floor is the living portion. Aunt Lisa already has a room prepared for me, and says that I can have a job at her cafe. This works out perfectly, because I'm more broke then my own sanity.
Julie leads me to the door, and gently taps it four times. We both stand and wait, Julie casting me soft glances with her big green eyes.
Soon shuffling is heard inside, and I wait patiently as the door creeks open.
In the doorway stands a small woman, maybe two or three inches taller then me. She has short (h/c) hair, pulled up into a messy pony at the nape of her neck.
She bares a striking resemblence to me. The only difference is that she has the same speckled grey eyes as my mother. So she must be on my mother's side.
"H-Hello." I stutter. I don't have very good memories with family.
"Hello there child! You must be (y/n)!" Aunt Lisa says.
Her immediate kindness towards me gives me a flutter of hope. I nod sweetly, trying my best to give her a good impression of me. Aunt Lisa returns my smile.
"Alright, are you good from here?" Julie asks, casting a comforting hand to my shoulder.
I glance around nervously, and reluctantly nod my head. If anything turns out bad I can always call her. Her smile seems to grow when she notices my trust.
I trust her, and if she trusts my Aunt Lisa, then so do I.
"Goodbye Daisy! I love you, and I am glad you are staying here. But despite our friendship, I hope we never have to see eachother again."
Julie says, grinning and chuckling.
I do love Julie, but I can't help but agree. I hope this is the last we see of each other. After one time in court, I never want to see it again.
"T-This is goodbye then, huh?" I say sadly.
Julie hugs me, wrapping me in her comforting arms.
"Yes, I am afraid it is."
"Thank y-you, for everything y-you have done for m-me!"
I say, starting to cry.
Tears slip down my face, and Julie wipes them away swiftly.
She waves as she enters the car, and I am still waving, even as she pulls out of sight.
I will never forget that woman.
"So, allow me to show you your new room!" Aunt Lisa says excitedly.
Her bubbly attitude catches me a little off guard, but I smile through my nervousness and puffy eyes.
"Yes please!" I say.
Aunt Lisa grabs my suitcase, full of only clothes. The only sentimental item I have is my locket. The rest I would rather forget.
She leads me through the cafe, and I breath in the intoxicating smell of coffee and sugar. Tables littered the room, and a definite color theme is orange and green.
We wind through the tables, and I notice that most of them bare a zig zag pattern of orange and bright green. Something in me is drawn to the color green. It isn't my favourite color, but maybe even more important.
The floor is made of tan tile, and green-seated chairs scatter around the room. Along the walls are green-seated booths, and a condiments stand is shoved in the corner. All of this green has a mysterious effect. I suddenly feel a lot more cheery and kind.
The front desk is mostly glass, making way for the delicious displays inside. The counter is also orange, with specks of tan. The cash register is hidden from view, but I know it is there.
Art covers the walls, multi-colored abstract oil paintings. The sheer beauty of them makes me suck in a breath. Aunt Lisa chuckles proudly at my reaction.
Behind the desk is a door, most likely leading to the kitchen. To the right of the counter is a long rope, with a sign that says "Manager Only". Those probably lead to the living portion.
Aunt Lisa heads for the stairs, confirming my assumptions. She lifts up my suitcase, and I trudge awkwardly after her.
"I live right above the cafe, but we close after 8. Will that be ok?" Aunt Lisa seems to worry over my answer.
"Ya! That's fine! I'm used to noise." I say. This only seems to deepen her worried frown.
"But I'll be ok Aunt Lisa! I promise!"
"Ok, if you say so. And please, call me Michin. It's what my close friends call me." Aunt Lis- uh... Michin says.
Wait a minute... Is that Korean?
"Uh... Aunt Lis- I mean Michin, are you aware of what that means?" I say nervously.
Michin laughs good-naturedly, but her next sentence alarms me.
"Not a clue!" Michin says.
I groan, now wanting to know who called her that.
"Who called you that?"
"My friend from southern Korea. We knew eachother for twenty years!"
"Uh... Michin means... crazy in Korean..." I say, slow and hesitant.
Michin's face turns to confusion for a second, before she starts laughing harder.
"That definitely sounds like something Ji Su would say!" Michin says between laughter. I nervously join her with a subtle chuckle.
We continue up the stairs, still chuckling about her nickname. When we reach the top, her question catches me off guard.
"Do you have a name you wish to go by? Or just (y/n)?"
A nickname...
I can have a new name here.
Here, in this new place, I have an opportunity.
An opportunity to abandon my past, in favour of a new future.
I think for a moment, but I don't think for too long. The best way to rememeber Julie is to carry her with me constantly.
My name is not (y/n).
A flood of bad memories seem to empty from my soul as I accept the new name.
"C-Call me... Call me Daisy."
I say with finality.
As you can tell, my favourite way to end a chapter is with a significant one-liner 😂.
Anyway... I have decided that my hundredth follower can stick an OC in here. They also get a shout out, and a little sticker that says
"100th Follower of KitKatLovesUT"
But you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
