Later that day and night Damian doesn't make an appearance. Matter of fact, he doesn't make an appearance at all throughout the early hours of Thursday morning after midnight. I get a little worried. Worried that I'm going insane and making all of this up in my head.
My nerves feel like they've given up on me. I wasn't upset that he didn't show up at all. I shouldn't be, after all, we've only just met. I couldn't tell though if I was actually upset or if I was just letting my depression get the best of me.
I decide to take a sick day and not show up for my classes at all. I pull off my t-shirt and wrap myself in a fluffy blanket that feels nice against my skin and curl up onto the couch with my steaming cup of tea, getting lost in thought.

It wasn't until I notice Nym getting up to stretch from his nap that I notice how many hours have passed. I blink into reality then stretch my limbs. Popping noises come from my joints and I crinkle my nose.
"You wanna talk about it?" A deep voice asks from beside my position on the couch. I jump nearly a foot and nearly let out a squeal. I take a few breaths to try and calm my racing heart.
"Shit, man, how long have you been sitting there?" I ask and take another deep breath. I turn my body to face his and the blanket that was surrounding me slips off my shoulders but I don't make an effort to adjust it.
"Not too long. Maybe about an hour." He says like it's nothing and I raise an eyebrow. Fucking hell.
"An hour? Don't you have better things to do?" I ask in amazement. Who wanted to sit in silence beside someone who acted practically like a zombie for an hour.
"Not really." He simply states. We sit in silence for a minute.
"So... How's hell?" I ask eventually after a pause. He tilts his head sideways at me as if analyzing something. I'm reminded of my childhood dog growing up. He was a black lab and used to always tilt his head cutely when someone was talking to him. Suddenly, the big brooding Angel of Death sitting beside me didn't seem all that threatening.
"Unsatisfying. How's earth?" He asks. My lip twitches in minor amusement.
"Taking its toll. I'll survive." I answer with a shrug. The silence in the room was almost deafening. I knew there was an elephant in the room but I didn't know what it was. There was definitely something on his mind. I could see the hesitation and doubt in his eyes.
"Spit it out," I demand, meeting direct eye contact. Not knowing the unknown was killing me.
"Your soul is different. It isn't like anything I've seen before." He begins off slowly. I raise my eyebrows to try and get him to elaborate. "It has a type of purity that I haven't seen in a long time." He states. I widen my eyes and look away from his curious look. Suddenly feeling extremely anxious, I fidget with the hem of my blanket and pull it up over my head as if to hide from his intense gaze. I bite my lip.
"You can see my soul? That's a pretty neat party trick." I nervously laugh and twist the tips of my short blue hair in my fingertips.
In a split second his figure makes its way over to mine so it's looming over my small frame; his face so close to mine our noses nearly touching. "Are you absolutely sure you want to make this deal? Your soul in exchange for my companionship?" He asks with absolute seriousness. I can feel the heat radiating from him onto me making me shudder. Goosebumps form on my arms and up my neck. I can feel my heart pound in my chest. I have to lay my hand flat on his chest to keep him from getting any closer. He didn't remind me so much of my childhood pup anymore.
"Yes," I answer without hesitation.
"With this deal; we become one. Friendship is a bond in itself. A deal between a mortal and immortal like this means both parties share a deep connection until your death. This is your final chance to back out." He states. I won't back out., I really don't want to back out. Maybe I should have the urge to, but I just don't. I've never half-assed anything in my life, I'm not about to do it now.
"We become one." I nod as does Damian. His head comes closer and his lips brush against mine seemingly sending electricity down my body. I was suddenly terrified but regardless my eyes slowly close as our lips meet and mold together. The cold metal of his ring stands out against the heat being emitted from both of us. As someone who's having their first kiss, I would like to say that I wasn't expecting it to be as pleasant as this.
