6. Feelings

Monami shows Salem around the HQ, introducing her to most everyone. “Damn..” Oliver says when he sees Salem. “Down boy” Monami smirks as Salem calls Sykes out.

Sykes laughs and says “Alright.. I'll behave” Monami scoffs and asks “When the bloody hell do you ever behave?” Sykes smirks and whispers something inappropriate in Monami’s ear.

Monami gasps and says “Oliver!” Oliver smirks and softly slaps Monami's ass. She scowls at him while Salem laughs her ass off.

After meeting everyone, Salem and Monami go to her room and start talking. They laugh and talk most of the night, finally falling asleep around 3a.m.

The next day, Oliver was in trouble for his previous actions so no one saw him for a few days. Actually, no one saw anyone for a few days. Everything was just quiet.. No one liked it. Almost everyone was in trouble with the boss, so it was all work and little rest.

Jack went on a late night run and got hurt, nothing insanely major, just a stab wound. They took the coke and ran, he knew Monami would rip his ass for it. That scared him more than the pain and blood he was quickly losing at the moment. The ex EMT who Monami hired as an on site medic, doctored the wound and gave Jack something for the pain.

“Thanks Jinxx” Alex said softly before going over and sitting beside his comatose friend. Jinxx was a man of few words. He did his job and left, no one really knows anything about him.

A few hours later, Jack woke up to Alex, Tony, Jaime, and Vic staring at him, worriedly. “How’re you feeling?” They all seemed to ask at once. “Like I just got fucking stabbed” Jacks sarcasm was at it's best. Everyone laughed, knowing that meant he'd be okay.

That is until the door swung open and there stood Monami. Everyone's faces fell, this could go one of two ways.. She never really came to visit anyone who got hurt. Unless it was Tony.

“Jack! Are you okay?” Salem asks, entering the room quickly. Jack smiles weakly, she instantly starts checking his side. Monami rolls her eyes “Don't worry Salem, Jinxx is our medic” She nods and smiles at her friend before turning to Jack. “You're one reckless soldier aren't you?”

Jack laughs but then winced in pain. “Sorry” Salem mumbles, Jack shrugs and says “It's worth the pain” Monami walks up by his side and everyone tenses.

“What happened, Barakat?” Jack sighs and starts retelling the scene. “So they took the load?” Jack looks down sadly. “They took everything” Monami shakes her head and lays her hand on top of Jacks. “They didn't take everything. You're alive and that's what matters. Take all the time you need to regain your strength. Have Tony let me know if you need anything”

Then with a small, stiff smile, Monami was gone. Everyone was in pure shock. Salem smiled at Jack before looking to everyone else. “She may seem like a cold bitch, but she's been through a lot. Trust me when I say she does care about you guys” Vic, Tony, and Alex all smiled at Salem.

Jaime was eating and watching TV on his phone and had no idea what was going on around him. Vic excused himself and went to find Monami sitting in her office looking pretty stressed out. She wasn't even all dressed up. She just wore black ripped skinny jeans and a blue zip up hoodie over a white tank top. Since the door was open, Vic knocked on the doorframe.

Monami looked up and nodded, letting him know it was okay to come in. “You okay?” Vic was still in trouble so he was being careful. “Not really..” Monami admitted. Vic walked up to her and laid a hand on her shoulder. “We didn't lose much. It isn't going to put us too far behind” He tried to reassure her, thinking that it was business as usual. She never really cared about anything other than business.

Monami stood up and leaned against her desk, facing Vic. “It's not the loss I'm worried about, Vic.. Jack could have gotten seriously hurt. We need to be more careful about who we sell to. I… Know that I don't always treat you guys the best but--” Vic cut her off, “I know… I know.” His voice going from reassuring to serious.

Vic decided to be daring. He pulled Monami into his arms and hugged her. She tensed up and just stood there at first, not used to the contact. Then after a moment or two, she wrapped her arms around Vic's neck and hugged him, sighing. “He's gonna be okay” Vic mumbles softly. She just nods and holds on tighter.

They stay that way for a good five minutes before Vic pulls away and smiles softly at her. “Thank you” Monami says quietly. She's not used to letting people in.

Just as Vic was about to say something, Monami spoke up “I-- I have to go do something” Before running out of the room.

Vic was confused but decided to go check on Jack.
